have you read this article (see below)? feminist queer writer totally erases vegan poc. someone posted it on Facebook and i've been fuming ever since grrr. It's called "White supremacy and Animal Rights", and published by Ravishingly.
uuuughhh, so sick of this! feminist queers are supposed to be one OUR side.it’s so ridiculous to argue that it’s white supremacy when veganism was basically poc’s IDEA, let alone a great deal of poc’s identity currently…
the other day, two very intelligent (well…maybe I’ll take back that “very”) college classmates of mine argued that to believe in vegan-feminism (like in Carol J Adams’ Sexual Politics of Meat) is “just” part of the expectation of women being “earth mothers” and that it shouldn’t be “our responsibility”
I was like “…seriously??”
it’s just shocking how many seemingly well-meaning people will argue against veganism until they’re blue in the face to just ignore something is inconvenient for them…
