Hi I know you’ve been in the fandom for a while and I’m coming back from a one to two year hiatus and unfortunately I think all my favorite fanfics were deleted by tumblr specifically the one I’m looking for is about Harry marrying a journalist if I remember correctly it’s called the unexpected attraction I was wondering if you knew anywhere that I could find this and all the other old good fanfics

First of all, welcome back!  

Second of all, I just went hunting through the phff tag for you… and wow, it brought back some good memories.  I think (think?) the fanfic you’re looking for is gone now.  I found some old replies and tags and when I clicked on the blog link, it had been deactivated.  Maybe the writer is under a new url, so I’m going to open this up to the floor and see if anyone knows where to find the writer :)

I only read two fanfics, but to be honest, I still reread them both about twice a year (each), maybe more haha.  The first one I read was by @ravishingtheroyals called Against the Odds (you can find it here @phfanfic-againstheodds).  This one features Alexandra Morgan, an American-born wartime widow with a young daughter named Emma, who falls in love with Prince Harry.  It’s fun and sweet and light and I can think of three moments off the top of my head right now that bring tears to my eyes still, even though I’ve reread the story a hundred times.  

Then I read @joishereforthis‘ absolute masterpiece of a work featuring Dr. Madeline Forrester, a child psychologist born in Colorado who meets and falls in love with Prince Harry during a mission trip to Africa with Doctors Without Borders.  This story is literally more complex than some published novels I’ve read.  It’s not short (both parts to the main and alternate stories take up probably 300 chapters) but it is worth reading every single word.  Maybe twice.  Three times if you have the time.  I know I’ve read it about ten times now haha.  It is posted on Wattpad and Mibba if I’m not mistaken.  I was able to find it by reaching out to Jo directly after several years - I would do the same if I were you.  She may know where to find the rest of the old fanfics and their authors.

I’m not entirely sure who else was around for the heyday of Prince Harry fanfiction - @catherineandmeghans, @dirtyroyalconfessions, @rachelmarkle, @claireofluxembourg, @lovingtheroyals ?  Do you know where to find any of the other good ones?

What royal fanfics did you like back in the day ?

I have been waiting for this question for AGES!!!!  I am so ready for this conversation because Tumblr has been sleeping on the OG Prince Harry fanfics and I need to not be the only one preaching my appreciation still!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay anyway, I only read two - but they were long and deep and just so damn good, I’ve reread them both over and over and over and over.

The first one I read was written by @ravishingtheroyals​ and it was called Against the Odds ( @phfanfic-againstheodds​ ).  It features Prince Harry, who falls in love with a Texas-born wartime widow named Alexandra Morgan, who has a young daughter named Emma (spoiler alert: Harry falls in love with Emma too, of course).  It’s so good and pure and sweet and I’ve read it through half a dozen times because it’s just that good.  She wrote a few spin off fics about some of the characters in her story and they’re just too good.  I reread this in anticipation of the wedding because it just brought me back to the early days and it’s just so good.  You can access it at her phfanfic blog I tagged above - all of the chapters are still posted. 

The next one I read was written by @joishereforthis​ and it was called The Unexpected Journey, and to be honest, I don’t even know where to begin.  It again features Prince Harry, who falls in love with an American doctor of psychology from Colorado named Madeline Forrester.  Since it is no longer on Tumblr, I reached out to Jo (the author) and asked if there was anywhere I could find it.  She told me where to find it about two months ago and I haven’t let up since.  She wrote Parts I and II of The Unexpected Journey, then wrote a spin-off story featuring the same characters that breaks off at a particularly pivotal part of the main story called The Alternate Journey, which also has Parts I and II.  If you’re interested, I would reach out to her as well because…. damn.  To put it in perspective, when I have an ounce of free time (or even if I should be doing something else), sometimes I’ll go on my phone, pick a random chapter of any of the 4 parts, and just start reading.  And I won’t stop until I’m forced.  It’s that good.  I’m literally writing this after taking a break from reading The Alternate Journey Part II while I’m at work.  

Anyway I’ve rambled far too long about these but… if you’re looking for a fanfic to read, then read them both.  I’m so serious.  And if you ever want to talk about them after you’ve read them, I’m all ears, because I don’t know of anyone else who is still on Tumblr who has read them.  Seriously - they’re amazing.  Read them both, like, right now.

So in case you guys haven’t gathered, I am VERY excited for Henry’s wedding and I am flying to London on Thursday to be there in person.

I’ve been around the royal fandom for a long time, well before Catherine announced her first pregnancy, and I’m so excited that I get to go watch Harry, HENRY, marry the love of his life next weekend after so many years of wishing for the best for him

(I just....love him so much and I’m so happy that he’s happy, but I’ll get into that next week)

Wanna know what I’m doing to celebrate the fact that Captain Harry Wales is going to be a HUSBAND in less than seven days???

I’m taking it way, way, WAY back to the good old days of the royal fandom (I’m talking when the Harry thirst was at an all-time high), and rereading one of the greatest OG Prince Harry fanfics that ever existed, Against the Odds ( @ravishingtheroyals @phfanfic-againstheodds and I can’t forget @joishereforthis )

Thinking about the days of fanfics and The Ship of Dreams and Harry’s AUS/NZ interview is making me smile a whole lot recently and I just had to go back and start it from the beginning to celebrate the end of era for Henry, and the start of something much, much bigger for him

Single Harry is no more and the fanfictions are for the most part long gone and I couldn’t be happier for him but it’s always nice having a little bit of the past to revisit, and Crystal’s story has definitely done that for me lately :)
