Is it OK and natural for a dog to always be hungry?  I don't believe it is.  I believe it's something that develops from the time they're separated away from the mother.  A dog that has enough to eat - and doesn't experience the aching drive of the hunger sensation and an empty belly, is usually self regulating in their food intake.  Why then do you see overweight dogs?  Simple.  It's intake to exercise and energy burn off, the biggest villain being dried dog food which is heavily carbohydrate content.  Dry food does not sustain the appetite.  It wouldn't do for us either.  If we ate nothing but airdried crispbreads - would that satiate our hunger?  Change your dogs diet over to GRAIN FREE dry dog food (no Oats - horses eat oats and we do - but not dogs!!)  with a high protein content of at around 60% protein and mix it with a natural wet food like Naturo trays which have a 60% meat content, available at most supermarkets. It should be 70% wet to 30% dry.  Feed your dogs sardines and pilchards - perfect for calcium and oils.

Pets at Home own the Wainwright's brand of food (and should know better than to add oats as a filler into their dry kibble).  Feed your dog little and often especially the young and the old.  (Same as us).  The same daily ration but don't leave it so long between meals.  Perhaps don't feed first thing - but after the morning walk.  And then again about 2pm or after the afternoon walk.  And finally a light meal when you eat your supper.  That way you'll have a dog who is not constantly nagging for food and is much happier.
