Oh, Dexter, why did you have to go and smash your face on the ground and knock your canine tooth out?! His vet (the one who does acupuncture) says he'll need surgical extraction of the retained root still in his gum. ... The amazing thing about this whole situation is how Dexter is reacting. Pets can be incredible teachers, and I'm trying to pay attention to the lesson. ... You would never guess he had endured a permanently disfiguring accident that hurt like hell when it happened. He's not feeling sorry for himself. Not experiencing emotional attachment to the state of his body. The moment of the accident happened and he moved on, adjusting as necessary without all the emotional baggage that we humans tend to attach to our health status. ... Pretty sure my #acupuncturist has been trying to get me to be more like Dexter in this regard for like the past 2 years 😂 ... He's acting 💯like his normal self and eating, purring, cuddling, and playing, like nothing happened. ... Refecting on his situation has helped me today. #fibroids made me have to "call in sick" today, one of the hardest things for me to do since I am my own boss. I've always felt undeserving of days off, and I usually have a lot of shame surrounding days like this.
