News - Ray Mona, the Youtube Documentarian who unearthed the long-lost live action Sailor Moon pilot in 2022, has found and uploaded Bandai America's original pitch presentation video for Sailor Moon and uploaded it onto their channel! The whole video gives a little background on what the video was for and context for why it was made, but if you want to skip straight to the video itself, it starts at around the 7:45 mark.

This is a great look at how different Bandai's official pitch was in comparison to DiC's. While Bandai kept all the original names and music for theirs and highlighted the themes of transformation and friendship between the girls, DiC pushed the fighting and action elements as something "even boys would enjoy".

This is a really fascinating deep dive into the archaeology of the creation of just one of the could have beens and never weres that litter the mythology of our modern age. Especially in light of the Batgirl film being callously sacrificed on the altar of tax write-offs and exiled into the void.
