I know a lot of us are hurting and afraid (with tons of good reasons). I take comfort in knowing that no matter what happens, God’s got this. One thing I'm learning is when it comes to things only God can do, I'm better off leaving those things to God. I was outlining what I thought was a great book idea: “How to Triple Your Productivity”. Then I realized I didn’t need to write a book. Being productive is more about eliminating resistance (drag) than about getting better at anything. Here are 3 simple practices that, in my experience, will triple your output: 1. Do one thing at a time, for a focused block of time (using a digital timer), to the exclusion of all else. 2. Check email only once per day. 3. Six weeks ago I had rotator cuff surgery on my right shoulder. I'm still in more pain than I was pre-surgery. But… Things are definitely looking up. Yesterday the surgeon pronounced me to be "right on schedule" in the recovery process. It'll take six months for me to feel "normal" again, and a year for the healing to be complete. But everything is going well. Today is my first day out of the sling for an extended period of time. I'm sore, and stiff, but I feel like I came in number one ☝️in one of my life's bigger challenges! Do you get stressed out by all the negative stuff on Instagram and Facebook? The platforms themselves are neutral. Social media is not the problem. It is merely a distribution channel of ideas. The problem is allowing the negative, hateful voices to dominate the space. And here’s a clue my friends: the way to win that battle is not to try to shout them down. It’s not to argue your point against the negative, the hate filled, fearful, the intolerant. The way to win the battle for hearts and minds is to speak to those hearts and minds. Speak your message of love, of hope, of inclusiveness. Social media is the ultimate democratization of ideas. The ultimate level playing field of all voices. It only becomes a playground full of strife, hatred, and anger if we remain silent with our message of hope, peace, and love.
