Atomic Smoak Headcanon #1

So I promised you all some Raylicity headcanons. This is just the one but it got kind of away from me...

Atomic Smoak and cooking dinner for the first time:

Ray loves to cook. He finds it very satisfying since he loves making things that will make people feel better and food is a great way to achieve that.  He used to cook for Anna all the time. As he started to gather the necessary ingredients she would sit down on the barstool at their counter and spin around while he told her about his new ideas for the company. And while he made her dinner she would sip a glass of wine, smiling at him while she told him about her day. After Anna died, Ray couldn’t find any joy in cooking anymore, because what’s the point of making a nice meal if you can’t share it with anyone, if you can’t make someone happy with it?

The first time he asks Felicity over for dinner, a real one, no restaurant or take out, he has a breakdown before she comes over.  He never thought he would be doing this again and he is, he is, and it makes him feel guilty even though he knows it shouldn’t.

When Felicity finally arrives he has calmed down, just enough to get started on the meal. But instead of Felicity sitting down while he makes dinner like he expects her to, she moves to help him chop the vegetables all the while rambling about the new software they’re working on. She looks surprisingly at home in his kitchen and it’s then and there that he finally realises that it’s okay to be happy with Felicity, to share these moments with her. He loved, loves, will love Anna, always, but that doesn’t mean he can’t find someone new to love.
