I read this fifteen years ago and enjoyed it then, but I appreciated it exceptionally more now from a totally different viewpoint. I didn’t anticipate getting involved with church hierarchy fifteen years ago, but re-reading Mother Angelica’s biography now, after having firsthand experience with some of the nonsense inside the American Catholic Church, I couldn’t help admire how she stood up to the “mafia.” Before she would achieved worldwide recognition in the religious world via her television company, EWTN, her life was filled with incredible successes that even for atheists who will read this book, won’t be able to help but smile at various segments. Any single one of the key oppositions this woman faced would have been enough to discourage the average person, therefore it’s astounding that the crippled Abbess overcame such obstacles and the rewards she got from doing so.
