Ok, as a supervisor at my workplace, I'm appalled. Performance reviews aren't supposed to be super personal. "Here's what you did well, here's what we think you could work a bit harder on, keep up the good work. Who's next?" (Pt. 1)
Secondly, it should have been a manager or highest position to do it. They're the ones who are supposed to write it out and should be the ones delivering it. My heart breaks for you that you're now in a hostile workplace. (Pt. 2)
Do you have an ethics line or HR department that you can talk to? It's unacceptable that she got so personal with your review, it really is. And I'm assuming the next level management would be utterly useless in this problem? (Pt 3)
You need to talk to someone in the company about how she makes you feel at work now. Some kind of discussion needs to happen and she needs to be held accountable for her words. Supervisors are supposed to drive productivity, but not (Pt 4)
Not at the expense of the staff. I have issues with some of the people I supervise but that's because I make them work instead of letting them stand around and talk. If you're doing a good job, and have shown improvement, she has no right to (Pt 5)
No right to bring you down like that. I would have sent this ramble in a message but you don't follow me. I just wanted to let you know that's she's in the wrong here. And you don't deserve that shit. I hope there is some way for you to get a (Pt 6)
Get a resolution to this. I'm gonna stop now before I hit double digit asks. Chin up :)
Hi, thank you so much. After reading this and getting some encouragement from my co-workers I talked to our SVP about this new supervisor and explained to them that I thought the performance review was unfair due to her being too new to even know anything about me. She has been there only since October, and I’ve been there for a year. My boss understood and will make sure that my review is re-done by someone else more capable. And apparently, I was not the only one who placed a complaint.
I think what hurt the most was that she mentioned my personal appearance?? I try to look as professional as possible all the time. You’d think that after me being a year at that current position my manager would have noticed, and either have sent me home to change, or written me up for it. No one, absolutely no one had mentioned that to me before. She’s the only one.
There were so many negative things about me in EVERY single category. Most of it which was a complete lie.
I’m feeling so much better now. I want to thank you, and everyone who was so kind, and encouraging to me ♥♥
