Rayne, a man of action rather than words—his shocking move?!

This is an illustration I drew last July!

Rayne was participating in a photo shoot for a famous magazine in the magical world.

He had been chosen as the model for their annual, highly popular Bridal Special—a major spotlight for someone who had only recently become a Divine Visionary.

☔: (Why the hell do I have to do this?)

Despite his internal grumbling, he remained professional and finished the shoot without a hitch.

"Great work today, Rayne-san! You can keep the outfit as a gift!"

His first instinct was to decline—he didn't exactly have a use for it—but then the face of his best friend flashed through his mind.

He had been nursing a complicated, unrequited crush on him for six long years.

☔: (...Maybe I’ll use this outfit to propose to Max.)

☔: "Max, marry me."

🎈: "Wait, where is this coming from?! (Did some weird switch flip inside him during that photo shoot...?)"

...For the time being, they decided to start by just dating.

☔: (I am definitely going to marry him, no matter what.)

I'm also posting a night version without dialogue (it feels a bit more romantic, doesn't it?)!

sometimes, i like thinking about the fact that i made my own alternate scene for the delisaster vs rayne fight that actually includes raynemax

where rayne talk about the fact that max was one of the only people who actually understood him fully, one of the only ones to show him what true love felt like

but even if they loved each other, rayne had to leave max to become a divine visionary, so his lover, his whole life, could be safe

what i imagine that "breakup scene" to be like is something like

rayne asks to break up

max takes a bit to actually start tears up and clings into rayne, asking why

rayne explains that he wants to keep him safe, since he's becoming a divine visionary

max is still crying, rayne has a bit of tears in his eyes

max says he understands, and with a slight smile, he asks rayne for one last kiss

and they kiss
