It's almost time for Ray Vecchio Day! Once again, in celebration of RayV's semi-canonical birthday of September 21st, we are inviting you to come out and get your Vecchio on! Got a limerick, or a rec list, or a hoard of screencaps? Come show 'em off!

I debated whether this fest should run this year, but I've decided to go ahead with it - with a few changes! This year, I'm going to ask that all entries get posted either to AO3 or directly to the dreamwidth comm. I'm also not going to do a community-generated work or a round up post this year!

However! I also think it would be great if people could leave prompts for others to work from if they need some inspiration this year! If you have a Ray Vecchio or David Marciano themed prompt, please leave it in the comments on the dreamwidth announcement post for creators to peruse! Creators, if you see a prompt you like, please reply to it claiming that prompt and be sure to credit the prompter for the idea in your post. 

Prompts are entirely optional; you don't have to leave a prompt if you don't want to, and you don't have to have claimed a prompt to participate.

Here are the guidelines, such as they are:

All entries must be in celebration of Ray Vecchio from due South or the actor who portrays him, David Marciano.

All entries must be shareable–locked vids must provide passwords, etc.

All entries must be posted either to the dSVB comm or to the AO3 collection.

Entries must comply with dS Virtual Bar comm rules. Please use your best judgment and when in doubt, ask!

The AO3 collection will close on September 22nd at 8am Chicago time. If you miss this time but still want to post to the AO3 collection, please contact Mission (thisaintbc on dreamwidth, missionlameturtle#7625 on discord, or email me at [email protected]).

a couple Ray Vecchio recs

Scenes From A Marriage, elementalv. K/V, E rating, Sentinel crossover. Some are born to be Guides, and some are dragged to it kicking and screaming.

How The Ray Was Won, catwalksalone. K/V, G rating, post-canon, unreliable narrator. One name, two men, three tasks and a motif. Or several. 

Not In Front Of the Kid, catwalksalone. K/V, T rating, kid!fic. The one thing Ray and Ray weren't expecting? The Spanish Inquisition. That, and to become fathers overnight. 

Wash the dusk with silver, mekare. F/V (implied), G rating, fanart. Sometimes no words are needed.

As an extra bonus, there are a lot of good RayV-centric fics in the Arch To The Sky series, many of which, like Crescendo, stand very well on their own. Most of the earlier fics are gen, but the series as a whole builds to RayV/Turnbull (among other pairings).

Here Comes Ray Vecchio Day!

In just six short weeks, it’ll be September 21st, and you all know what that means: Ray Vecchio Day! Once again, in celebration of RayV's semi-canonical birthday, we are inviting you to come out and get your Vecchio on! Got a limerick, or a rec list, or a hoard of screencaps? Come show 'em off!

This is a multi-platform fest, open to everyone regardless of what platform they operate on or whether they're a member of this comm, and absolutely feel free to post wherever and do whatever you like! Here are the guidelines, such as they are:

All entries must be in celebration of Ray Vecchio from due South or the actor who portrays him, David Marciano.

All entries must be shareable–locked vids must provide passwords, etc.

When posting to tumblr or twitter, please use the tags “Ray Vecchio Day” and “dsvb challenge” so we can find you (#RayVecchioDay and #dsvbchallenge on twitter).

If you post someplace other than tumblr, twitter, our dw comm, or the fest’s ao3 collection, please plan to submit, PM, or email a link to your work to @missionlameturtle (thisaintbc on twitter & dw). If you do something IRL (cosplay, lego, etc), please plan to send a link to pictures/a write up/a video OR to use the “submit” button to send them directly to us on tumblr so we can post them for you!

Entries must comply with dS Virtual Bar comm rules (no character bashing, tag/warn for content appropriately, etc). Please use your best judgment and when in doubt, ask!

Entries must be uploaded by 23:59 US Central Time on September 21st to be included in the masterpost as posted the following day.
