A/N: This story was written for Ray Vecchio Day! Many thanks to my awesome beta jdl71 who took time out of their very busy schedule to help me out. I get a lot of migraines and since sharing is caring I decided one of my favorite characters needs to have them as well.
It's almost time for Ray Vecchio Day! Once again, in celebration of RayV's semi-canonical birthday of September 21st, we are inviting you to come out and get your Vecchio on! Got a limerick, or a rec list, or a hoard of screencaps? Come show 'em off!
I debated whether this fest should run this year, but I've decided to go ahead with it - with a few changes! This year, I'm going to ask that all entries get posted either to AO3 or directly to the dreamwidth comm. I'm also not going to do a community-generated work or a round up post this year!
However! I also think it would be great if people could leave prompts for others to work from if they need some inspiration this year! If you have a Ray Vecchio or David Marciano themed prompt, please leave it in the comments on the dreamwidth announcement post for creators to peruse! Creators, if you see a prompt you like, please reply to it claiming that prompt and be sure to credit the prompter for the idea in your post.
Prompts are entirely optional; you don't have to leave a prompt if you don't want to, and you don't have to have claimed a prompt to participate.
Here are the guidelines, such as they are:
All entries must be in celebration of Ray Vecchio from due South or the actor who portrays him, David Marciano.
All entries must be shareable–locked vids must provide passwords, etc.
All entries must be posted either to the dSVB comm or to the AO3 collection.
Entries must comply with dS Virtual Bar comm rules. Please use your best judgment and when in doubt, ask!
The AO3 collection will close on September 22nd at 8am Chicago time. If you miss this time but still want to post to the AO3 collection, please contact Mission (thisaintbc on dreamwidth, missionlameturtle#7625 on discord, or email me at [email protected]).

Flower Crown Day will be February 13 & 14 this year!
Go forth and make floral-themed fanworks featuring any characters, actors, settings, etc, your heart desires, and then bring them back to help light up everyone’s day! Fic (long or short!), art, manips, fibercraft–whatever you want to make is welcome!
You can post your works to the AO3 collection, on tumblr, or directly to the due South Virtual Bar dreamwidth comm.
As always, all entries must be shareable and blatant character bashing is not allowed. Please take a look at our community guidelines, especially if you are considering posting your work directly to the comm on dreamwidth or submitting it to be posted by @dsvirtualbar.
There will be an entirely optional prompts post this year, where people who have ideas can toss them out for other folks to play with and creators who aren’t sure what to make can go look for some inspiration! You can find the prompts post here on dreamwidth, or folks can submit prompt ideas directly to @dsvirtualbar for us to publish here on tumblr!
This is a fairly laidback, informal, low-pressure fest, so please don’t stress about deadlines. The AO3 collection will go live at midnight Chicago time on February 13th, but I anticipate folks will be putting things up throughout the weekend! In order to keep things as low-stress as possible for everyone who wants to participate, the AO3 collection will stay open through March 11th again this year.
Most importantly for the tumblr crowd, if you’re posting your work on tumblr, please use the tag “flower crown day 2021” so we can find & reblog you!
