I never mentioned it before, but I was actually asked what Razzle's ethnicity is !

Wellll...!! His ethnicity is Mongolian~ He moved to Germany at a young age though, so huge part of him is also part of the German culture, which is why one of his main langs are German :3

I really want to draw your Freak Circus oc, and I was thinking of drawing him with another one of the performers! So I wanted to ask, who's your favorite member of the circus? Or, which one does Razzle get along with the best (or have the funniest dynamic)?

OH good question!!! Okay wait lemme just jot this down really quick...

Pierrot:

- really really close, if there's someone they need to vent to, they're pretty much each other's first option

- since Razzle's a fortune teller, he knows a looooot about people (he also cheats by reading their minds during the tellings sometimes, but aside of that...), so Pierrot loves to ask him questions about the MC, asking what he thinks he could do to get closer etc.

- the two definitely sneaked out multiple times to see more of the human world as well, they're two very curious mice unfortunately

Harlequin:

- it's complicated, they're literally the epitome of a love-hate relationship, one moment they're at each other's throat and the next moment you see Razzle asking him to "get rid" of someone since doing it himself goes against his morals, much to the menace's delight

- Razzle draws the line at pranking Pierrot tho, you can think of Razzle being the middle child and having to play messenger between these two sometimes... Harley usually gets mad when Razzle takes Pierrot's side and not his

- they also keep having this back and forth of "I'm older that you" "But I am taller" going on

- Razzle's monster form is based on a praying mantis, meaning he has antennae underneath that hat of his, Harlequin obviously takes this opportunity quite often to GRAB those together whenever Razzle did something before to piss him off, gaining a "YAOWCH!!" from Razzle's agony

Jester:

- to Razzle, Jester is a mother figure – he likes to hover around him when he isn't busy with anything, when Jester is reading on his bed, Razzle just snuggles up to him, and reads (well, somewhat ) whatever book's Jester's holding

- Jester is surprisingly soft on Razzle, letting him go with rather light punishments, but that's because Jester's words do enough to have him behave again (unlike someone else..)

The Ticket Taker:

this isn't fully fleshed out yet, but...

- Razzle sees the TT more like a boss than someone more close like the others

- I said it in another post before but he likes to act like the ticket taker by copying his pose and speaking style sometimes, out of fun, the TT himself doesn't know if he should take this as compliment or mockery (probably both)

The Doctor:

- Razzle genuinely likes the Doctor, he's the serious type, but Razzle's fascination and curiousity is getting the better of him ; he doesn't feel intimidated by him

- Razzle LOVES reading the Doctor's notes on his patients

- the Doctor sometimes leaves his notes on Razzle's table in his tent (if he can't find the cardist) with another note saying "Please bring back when done reading." (Razzle has not once been unreliable about this, he usually leaves shiny trinkets on the papers when he returns them – the Doctor has an entire desk compartment full of those), sometimes forgetting his stuff at his place as well

- Due to his huge height, Razzle sometimes asks the Doctor (during his free time) to lend him a hand (by letting him sit on his shoulders) to see something (sometimes he asks Pierrot as well)

Columbina:

- These two used to be incredibly close as well, you can think of Razzle being "the third" between Pierrot and her

- Since Razzle's gender is fluid, Columbina loved to dress him up in other clothes, they often held fashion shows together, Pierrot sometimes joining in the fun as well

- they also used to joke flirt with each other to the point everyone was getting sick of it 😭

Razzle speaks all languages needed for the circus when travelling but his main ones are English, German & Mandarin !! (I myself can't speak Mandarin tho 💔)

He doesn't like to cuss but when he does it's always in German, since he said it "feels" more fitting to do so, quite the logic..

Out in the Cold

note: This was actually a rp interaction I had with @/_theharlequin on ocsn, with permission, I turned it into a canon razzle lore story ;)

characters: razzle (oc), harlequin

summary: Razzle comes across Harlequin lying in the snow on their day off and, instead of leaving him to it, decides to keep him company.

The bite of snow and chilled air nipped at fingertips and noses. A rare day off from the circus, that's what this was supposed to be. A chance for Harlequin to get himself lost in a set of nearby woods and clear his head of the strange Red Ticket Guest. But of course, a nosey little someone had to follow him. Razzle found him lying in the snow, flakes settling like stars in his dark curls.

"What are you staring at? Is there something on my face?"

Razzle tilted his head, bells jingling softly with the movement. He stood there for a moment, just watching the way snowflakes caught in Harlequin's hair like tiny crystals.

"No, nothing on your face," he said, his voice carrying that usual playful lilt even in the cold. "Just wondering what kind of idiot lies in the snow at a time like this."

He crouched down beside Harlequin, gloved hands resting on his knees. Behind his mask, his tone shifted to something more curious, less teasing.

"Also wondering why you're out here alone. You never take the 'peaceful solitude' route." A pause. "So... what's actually going on, Harley?"

The Harlequin's lips twitched beneath his mask. Breath fogged in front of his face as he exhaled, tipping his head back more into the snow.

"Idiot? Hm... Do you follow everyone around? Or is your pretty little head smitten with me, dear Raz?"

The great Harlequin, ever the question dodger. Green pupils finally zeroed in on Razzle fully.

"Can't a man enjoy the risk of frostbite of his own volition~?"

Razzle let out a soft snort, his breath misting in the cold. He shifted his position, sitting properly in the snow now despite how it would probably soak through his clothes.

"Smitten? With you ?" His voice dripped with sarcasm, though there was fondness underneath. "I was bored. You happened to be the most interesting thing wandering off. Don't flatter yourself."

He reached out, flicking one of the snowflakes off Harlequin's hair.

"And no, you can't. Because if you get frostbite, the Doctor lectures both of us, and I'm not in the mood for that."

His masked face tilted, studying Harlequin carefully. The way he was avoiding the question wasn't lost on him.

"You're deflecting," Razzle said quieter, more observant. "Which means something's bothering you." He settled in, clearly not leaving. "So... are you going to tell me, or do I have to guess? Because I'm very good at guessing, and you know it."

"Ah, you wound me." Harlequin raised a clawed hand to rest on his chest. "Thine hurtful words burn like fire against my tender flesh!" he announced rather dramatically, taking on a badly done British accent.

He let his hand drop back down into the snow beside him unceremoniously. But there was effort behind his playful words. Effort, when his flowery and (sometimes concerningly) flirty words normally came naturally to him. He considered staying quiet, considered just keeping his thoughts to himself, but he was well aware of Razzle's guessing accuracy.

Not to mention that little mind reading trick of his. He only knew of it very vaguely, usually droning out Razzle's explanations of his fortune telling act, but he knew it existed.

Harlequin's jaw could be seen flexing and relaxing from the side of his mask. The man swallowed once before actually letting himself speak.

"Pierrot's red ticket guest." His words significantly softened, almost into a whisper. "They act just like her. They..." He fell silent, teeth clenching hard enough to audibly grate against each other.

His tone was devoid of anything. Harlequin loved telling his tale, he based his whole performance off of what he had done, of what they had all done. But then there were conversations like this, sensitive, talks that made him feel. He hated it.

Razzle's playful expression faded behind his mask as he watched Harlequin's theatrical performance crumble into something raw. He didn't interrupt, didn't make a joke. Just listened.

When the silence stretched too long, punctuated only by the sound of teeth grinding, Razzle shifted closer. Not touching, but close enough that his presence was unmistakable.

"Her," he repeated softly, carefully.

The weight of that single word hung between them. They both knew exactly who Harlequin meant.

A long silence settled over them, broken only by the soft whisper of falling snow and their breathing in the cold air. Razzle didn't rush to fill it. Sometimes silence said more than words ever could.

His fingers absently traced patterns in the snow between them, giving Harlequin space to not make eye contact if he needed it.

Razzle's voice was gentler now, stripped of its usual theatrics. "But lying here getting frostbite isn't going to make those feelings go away, Harley. Trust me, I've tried the 'ignore it until it goes away' method. Doesn't work."

He paused, then added quieter, "And for what it's worth... you don't have to perform for me. The dramatic British accent is cute and all, but..."

Razzle tilted his head, snowflakes catching on his bells. "I'm here. Really... here. So, if you need to feel things for a minute, that's... that's okay."

The Harlequin stared at Razzle for several long moments. Time seemed to drag on. When it almost seemed as if he would never look away, he turned his head to look at one of the nearby trees. Almost as if he suddenly found the peeling white bark the most fascinating thing in the world.

"I was doing just fine ignoring it." Harlequin's voice was low, flat. "It was almost like it never happened. She never existed. But then Pierrot brought that silly, that foolish and gullible red ticket guest here." He chuckled once, dryly. "Their small mannerisms, the way they act, even the way they laugh at dumb little jokes that aren't that funny. It's all her. Colum—" He cut himself off. Silence stretched on with Harlequin growing still.

Then a snort.

Then a laugh.

The bells on his hat jingled as he pushed himself up. "Hell, I've lost it, haven't I? What am I saying all of this to you for?" A giggle bubbled out of him, the grin on his mask stretching wide once more. "Ah, dear Razzle, I must look so silly right now. A fool is what I am."

He rushed to speak as if more silence would kill him, quickly brushing the snow that stuck to his clothes and hat. "Jester is probably looking for me by now, yes? Hm hm!" His words were quick, practically just spilling from him, all in effort to keep Razzle from talking, to keep the orange clown from his comforting and gently prodding.

Because The Harlequin doesn't need tender moments like this. He doesn't break, he doesn't have weak points like the others.

His chest felt as if it were caving, but he could handle that. He had to.

For a moment, Razzle just sat there in the snow. Then he sighed, long and deliberate, and let himself fall back flat into the cold powder, staring up at the grey sky and the falling snowflakes.

"You know," he said conversationally, "you're not as good at pretending as you think you are... and quite stubborn at that, too," he added under his breath.

He lay there for another beat, watching Harlequin's silhouette above him.

Then Razzle pushed himself up in one fluid motion, brushing snow off his clothes as he stood beside Harlequin. His shoulder nearly touched the menace's.

"If Jester's looking for you, you better follow me then." His tone was lighter now, giving Harlequin the out he so desperately wanted. "I told him I'd be out for a bit, so... might as well tell him I found a half-frozen clown during my walk, hm?"

He started walking, bells chiming softly with each step, but paused to glance back over his shoulder.

"Come on, Harley. Before you actually do get frostbite and prove me right."

The small area in which they'd been sitting was obvious. In a sea of smooth white snow, there were now two disturbed patches.

Harlequin stared at it for a moment, eventually turning to follow after Razzle. "It would be a shame if the circus's best member froze to death. You all would miss me too much to go on~"

He kept a firm distance between them for the first few steps. Soon, though, he matched his pacing.

"Thank you." He practically whispered, his tone lowering enough that anyone would have thought they misheard it. There wasn't any need to whisper, not when it was just the two of them. It felt better to, though. Razzle certainly wasn't the worst member of the circus who could've come wandering after him. Not that he'd ever tell him that.

Their bells jingled softly as they walked, the sound almost musical against the quiet crunch of snow beneath their feet. Razzle didn't look back at Harlequin when that whispered thank you reached his ears, but his pace slowed just slightly, just enough to make it easier for the clown to stay beside him.

"Anytime," he said quietly.

He didn't elaborate, didn't make a big deal of it. Just let the words exist between them.

After all, someone's got to look out for that idiot.
