Breaking down the SOCN timeline

(Warning: spoilers)

Menes II takes over, getting rid of all but one of the previous pharaoh’s heirs.

Clearchus (the royal healer) keeps Livius alive but kills his mother. He raises him and teaches him to be a healer.

Eva is born. Offered to Set.

Saamon pushes for the dark magic ban. Kills Epistates Ahmose in his sleep.

Clearchus warns Amen’s parents, but Saamon along with a young Remmao kills them.

Dark Magic is officially banned. Set’s power greatly diminishes, leaving Egypt vulnerable to foreign powers. At some point, the Macedonians move in.

Agnia is sold into slavery. She escapes and becomes an assassin.

Amen becomes Supreme Epistates, begins his hunt for Remmao and Saamon.

Remmao mentors Dia, Ramesses and Eva in Hermopolis.

A great disease (curse caused by Saamon) spreads in Thebes.

Agnia is sent undercover to Thebes to hunt down Saamon.

Clearchus sends Livius to Thebes as a healer, but really to keep Saamon alive.

Saamon breaks into Epistates Ahmose’s tomb.

Amen, Eva & the gang arrive in Thebes. Set appears. Saamon kills Isman.

Saamon realizes Set is after him, tries to capture Livius. Remmao dies. Eva & the gang begin their search for Saamon.

Eva, Amen, Livius & Agnia enter the Duat. They meet Anubis and begin their tests.

Eva learns about her past, no longer trusts Set. Agnia and Livius become indebted to Set.

I want hot LIs like this

Why is this the bad guy? Amen should’ve looked like this too!

There are so many gorgeous side characters! Why are those sprites being wasted when they could’ve been Amen and Set!

Think about it. Writing a story set in ancient Egypt, making the main LI as white as possible to show that he is special and unique, then making the bad guys (Saamon, Remmao, evil dudes in Duat tests) look Egyptian… how are you making them the bad guys in their own country, their own culture and mythology?? Why not just create a fictional world with fictional gods where you can make up whatever rules you want? Stop hijacking Egypt from the Egyptians.

It’s not only this story. There’ve been token POC side characters in other books that I hoped would be LIs, only to be disappointed. Kalman in ATHWTU comes to mind, among others…

Anyway… Please… 🙏

Less LIs with dead fish eyes like Dex and Tristan, more LIs who look like Saamon!
