( i don't have a specific case to use an example to make teh question more clear but think like, if someone where to want to use the characterization or mb origin point of a character from injustice/arkham knight/bombshells/spin offs like that (but only the parts that wouldn't change anything for another character so not the whole story obv), would that be okay?? or are you guys really strict on canon portrayal??)

elaborating on our previous answer, you’re free to use aspects of a character’s personality from alternate universes but first and foremost, they must be their canon self with their canon background. for example, if you wanted to take the fact that jason todd wore a different outfit in arkham knight or that he teamed up with scarecrow (after talking to the scarecrow player, of course), that’d be okay, but not if you replaced his history with that of arkham knight’s. another example of something that’d be okay would be taking harley and ivy’s relationship as canon like it is in bombshells. i hope that clears things up!

i think someone tried to ask this already but the answer wasn't super clear to me, so sorry if this is repetitive!! if we're making a character that has existed in different universes, are we allowed to use that background/characterization of a character so long as it doesn't have an impact on any other character or the timeline of the site? alternatively, are we allowed to use multiple source points for a character or should we pull from one place?

No worries!! We are going to ask that people pick from one general one canon point, based on the group of characters around you (ie the batfamily, the avengers) if its not defined in the timeline. We are okay with taking inspiration from other timelines! If you have specific character questions let us know.

what are the member groups going to be?

for member groups, we’ve got the transcendent, the occult, the eternal, the extraterrestrial, and the mortal.

transcendent characters are those with powers obtained thanks to the metagene, mutation, freak accident, engineering, or any unexplained means.  characters like charles xavier and barry allen would fall into this category.

occult characters gain their powers through the supernatural, or use magic or mysticism to achieve their ends.  john constantine and stephen strange would be considered occult characters.

eternal characters are thought to be gods or the direct descendants of them.  residents of asgard or the greek pantheon as well as characters that inspired myth are considered eternal.  you would find characters like thor odinson and diana prince in this group.

characters that are extraterrestrial are, to put it simply, aliens.  they come from places beyond our planet and can come from all manner of races.  some of which humanity has yet to encounter. j’onn j’onzz, clark kent, and peter quill would qualify as extraterrestrials.

mortal characters are ordinary people like you and me.  no special powers, no mutations, no galactic influence. when mortals enter the crime-fighting ring with the likes of the transcendent or even the eternal they tend to make up for their lack of superpowers with cunning, wit, and intense training.  bruce wayne and clint barton are two examples of mortal characters.
