types of dates with spencer reid:

- museum dates; he’d have facts about almost everything there, i also feel like he’d occasionally convince someone to let you in late at night when its empty so you can actually take your time looking through the exhibitions or have a special first look at new exhibitions

- coffee dates; he’ll take you to a really cute and quaint coffee shop, you love making him try new drinks especially those that dont have 8 spoons of sugar in them (he really likes frappuchinos and vanilla syrup and you laugh because of course it still had to be super sugary)

- picnic dates; he hates germs so this wouldnt be his first choice but theres something about how etheral you look in the sunlight and the smile on your face when youre in nature, that makes it so worth it he definitely lays down on your lap as you lean against a tree and read your respective books and he most definitely accidentally falls asleep

- library dates; theres something so comforting about choosing out books for each other and sitting in silence and reading them, the fact that you dont need to say words to enjoy others presence is something he loves, bonus point once you both finish your books you discuss them at great lengths and it can often lead to some heated debates if you disagree on a point

- stargazing dates; much like picnic dates except at night, laying back and staring at the stars leads to deep conversations about the future which used to scare him but knowing no matter what his future holds you’ll be right beside him turns it into something he looks forward to everyday

- movie dates; these are fun because he usually takes you to see really old films or foreign films so the place is normally empty, he spends his time whispering translations or occasionally blurting out facts about the movie/actors (after a few trips you manage to convince him that making out in an empty theatre is just as fun as actually watching the movie)

- lazy day dates; if he has a rare day off you both will just sit around the house and do absolutely nothing, you’d probably start the morning off by cooking a fun breakfast together and dancing around the kitchen in your pyjamas, not a care in the world... just cherishing the moments you have together, the rest of the day is spent napping, cuddling and binge watching movies/shows he’s never seen before

- lazy late night dates; generally occur if he had to miss a date because he was called away, he’ll show up at your door probably exhausted, you’ll lay in bed and read to him, slowly running your hands through his hair to soothe him your voice lulling him into a sleep, its not really a date but its time spent together

- magic show dates; niche but definitely something that happens when he takes you back to vegas, he loves magic and loves being able to show you the tricks after figuring out how they did it, the look of pure joy and pride on your face makes him so incredibly happy and also he just really loves magic !!

- games night dates; the games played just depend on the mood, if its a relaxed night its just puzzles, if you’re feeling adventurous you’d pick out video games and teach him how to play (he loves animal crossing), he teaches you how to play poker but doesnt let you win, he may be your boyfriend but he is sooo competitive letting you win isnt an option 

- going out/dinner dates; this normally happens on special occasions i.e. celebrations or birthdays you both generally perfer to stay at home but sometimes its fun to go out to fancy restraunts and dress up super nice plus the food is a welcome change from the usual quick meals and take outs you both survive on

- virtual dates; ok this became a staple in your relationship especially when spencer was gone for longer periods of time, you’d convince him to get a smartphone or at least a laptop with a decent webcam and he’d set it all up and you’d have dinner over facetime or read to each other and just enjoy each others company even miles away from each other (he definitely falls asleep on facetime because hes so exhausted, you dont have the heart to end the call so when he wakes up and hears light snoring he nearly has a heart attack thinking someones in the room with him until he realises youre fast asleep with the call still going)

Blurb for reader having a bad day and Spencer (her boyfriend) suprises her with a hot chocolate and her favourite donut to cheer her up 🥺🥺🥺

you were miserable, there wasnt a particular reason for it, it was just everything and nothing all at once. usually on days like this you lay in bed and wallow for the day, only leaving your bed to grab some snacks or pee, and that was fine when you were alone but today spencer finally had a day off and you knew he was going to want to spend it with you.

you felt awful for calling him to cancel but you didnt want to spoil his day off by being in a bad mood, you knew he would likely understand but you couldnt shake the feeling of guilt of passing on a wasted day to him, not when you knew how much he liked to do on his days off.

you reached out from under the covers to grab your phone and dialled his number, it rang for a few seconds before he picked up,

“hi! i’m on my way, i might stop for breakfast first, do you want anything?” he said and you could practically hear the smile on his face.

“hey... uh Spence im really sorry but I dont think you should come over today, i’m not feeling that great...” you wanted to keep it as brief as possible, not wanting to worry Spencer too much but also telling him enough that he didnt think you were bailing because you didnt want to see him.

“what’s wrong baby?” he asked, his voice was laced with concern and as much as you appreciated that he was worried about you, another part was getting frustrated, you werent in the mood to have a conversation, all you wanted to do was hide under your covers all day.

“Nothing Spencer...its just not a good day and I dont want you to waste your day off, i’ll be fine and we can see each other tomorrow night ok, bye I love you.” you spoke quick and ended the call even quicker, not wanting him to respond or ask anymore questions. you placed your phone back on the nightstand and buried yourself in a pile of blankets drifting off into a nap.

you awoke shortly after to your doorbell ringing, you werent sure who it could be, you werent expecting any parcels and your neighbours weren’t at home today so it couldn’t be them. You rolled out of bed, not bothering to fix your hair or adjust your pyjamas and dragged your body to the front door.

none other than Spencer Reid was standing at your door, a sheepish grin covering his face with a drinks holder in one hand and a bag in the other. “I got donuts.” He said, lifting the bag up and making his way past you and into your kitchen.

“Spence... i said not to, you didnt have to do this baby i know you had plans today.” you looked up at him but didnt make eye contact, you were sure you would start to bawl if you looked into his sweet kind eyes.

“i know you said no but i promise i want nothing more than to spend my day off with you, all those plans mean nothing if youre not there to enjoy them with me.” he walked over to you and wrapped his arms around you and you felt yourself relaxing against him embracing the feeling of his warmth.

“are you sure?” you asked him, and he only nodded in response and placed a small kiss on your forehead.

“postive, now you get back into bed and i’ll bring you your hot chocolate and a donut and then we can watch that show you’ve telling me about okay?” he says, busying himself gathering the plates and placing the donuts on them.

you couldnt help but stop for a moment and take in the view of your boyfriend moving around your kitchen so seamlessly, it was so domestic and sweet it made you want to tear up, but all you did was let out a small “mhm” and walk back into your room.

he came in a few minutes later, he’d cut up some fruit for you to eat alongside your donut and added some whipped cream to your drink, it was the little things like that made you fall more and more in love with him everyday.

“here you go princess,” he said handing you your breakfast and placing a kiss on your forehead, he moved to get into bed beside you and you couldnt help but smile as he shuffled next to you, “ah theres that smile that i love, hey once we’re done eating we can just cuddle for as long as you like okay?”

your eyes start to well up again, this is not how you expected your day to go and you couldn’t believe how lucky you were, “ I love you so much spence.” you said, reaching up to kiss his cheek which makes him giggle.

“i love you more and there’s nothing i’d rather do than be with you on my day off, don’t even question it.” he says. “now lets finish eating so we can cuddle and i can tell you this story emily was telling us on the jet, i didn’t understand it but she said it was romantic so i guess you’ll like it...”

When reader and Spencer announced they were pregnant the whole bau was elated. Secretly some members of the bau were hoping for it to be a girl (cough* cough* Garcia. She loves jack and Henry but she just wants a little girl to play dress up and share her cute things). When Spence and reader announced that it was a girl, the team was estatic but what caught them off guard was that reader wasn’t carrying one girl but three. TRIPLETS!!!

Imagine:

- Spencer being overprotective. Making sure you have a balanced diet. Him spitting facts about how it was important for you to eat healthy especially since you’re carrying three babies. He would always try to attend every appointment, when he was on cases he would have Garcia accompany you. When he was away, he would call every night to make sure you’re ok. He’d also send you text message throughout the day to remind you to eat.

-Emily, Garcia and JJ buying the triplets tons of dresses and skirts. Of course, they would go overboard but can you blame them, this is the first time someone on the team is having a girl. JJ and Emily having to drag Garcia out of the store when she went overboard on the stuffed toys. “I’m telling you JJ, 30 stuffed animal is not enough, that’s 10 for each girl!!”

- Derek’s endless teasing. “I never would have imagine that pretty boy had it in him to make one baby. But damn three!!!”. He would help build/ decorate the nursery. He insisted on a large built-in wardrobe saying the standing cupboard could fall on them. The house was mostly baby-proof by him. The triplets aren’t born yet but their safety is his top priority.

-Granpa Rossi would bring food for you and Spence. Rossi would insist on having one-on-one cooking session with Spencer. “Look kid, you’re gonna need to able to cook for (reader) and the kids”. By the end of the session, Spence could cook decent lasagna. The team would also tease Rossi. “Well aren’t you excited to be a grandpa” or “ granpa Rossi would ensure his granddaughters are pasta lovers ”.

- Hotch would be proud of Spencer. Whenever he saw Spence with you, it always reminded him of his relationship with Haley. He’d try his best to ensure that Spencer’s relationship does not end like his. So he would try his best to reduce Spence workload at least during the pregnancy. During cases, he would also remind Spence to check in on you.

one of my fav dad Spencer concepts is him getting into a relationship with someone who already has a kid. so after being in a relationship with them for a while he meets their daughter in the park and they like play chess together and Spencer let's her win.

After a while when Spencer and his partner are living together and their kid calls him dad for the first time and he gets so happy, like a big cheesy smile.

and like eventually they ask Spencer to adopt their child because he's basically already her dad and he tears up and says yes and their daughter gets so happy and calls him her real dad 🥺

this sucked ass but you get the vibes

thats so cute omg hes so tentative around her at first because he knows what its like to have a parental figure walk out and he doesnt want her to think he’s trying to replace said parent, and hes so nervous about their first meeting

but when they meet shes instantly all wide eyed and intrigued by all his interesting facts (he asks his partner about her favourite topics before hand so he can brush up) and she excitedly agrees to play chess with him and when he sees the smile on her face, and yours, when he lets her win he knows he would do anything to make sure you were both always that happy.

the first time she calls him dad takes him by surprise, hes never mentioned it to her and neither have you. so when one day she asks him to take her to see this movie (his partner cant take her because theyre working) so he agrees and she suddenly wraps her tiny arms around his neck and says “thank you dad” and hes frozen...unable to believe what had just happened, the little girl runs away cheering seemingly unaware of the impact of that small word, as he sits there with a wide grin plastered across his face.

their second christmas together, the little girl gives him the most adorable painting she did of the 3 of them with a giant arrow pointing to spencer and the words, will you be my REAL dad? and hes in shock and cannot believe when reader surprises him with adoption papers; hes a giant weepy mess because he cannot believe that hes a part of your family and he is going have a daughter... 🥺🥺

but yes so true he reads up on how it helps with bonding so he constantly has his shirt off when hes holding your baby, it gets to the point where you’re like... “spence do you need to do laundry...?” and hes like ??? and you’re like “well you havent worn a shirt in a few days now and i can do laundry if you need some clothes...” and he cant help but laugh at the innocent question before explaining everything about this article he read on dads bonding w their newborns 😭

i think about this a LOT

sometimes you guys manage to snag the couch leaving ample room for both of you to stretch out your tired limbs after a difficult case. he holds you close with your head pressed to his chest and his arms wrapped tight around you, often he rubs circles across your back soothing your aching muscles and you don’t hesitate to return the favour. you cover yourselves in a blanket and drown out the jokey remarks that the others make.

sometimes you’re unlucky and someone else takes the couch leaving you with individual seats, that doesn’t stop you from being close, you lift up the arm rest and move next to him, your body fitting perfectly in the crook of his arms. you place your head on his chest and he rests head atop yours. he’ll read to you, his voice a low whisper against the deep hums of the jet, the rumbling in his chest when he speaks eventually lulling you into a deep sleep....

hi angel happy valentines day to youuuu (ok its 2am feb 15th but ignore that)

- spencer is a big fan of valentines week, essentially extending the celebration past its designated date

- he says its because he doesnt know if he’ll be called away on a case and be unable to spend it with you but you know he just loves spoiling you

- he brings you a small present, i.e. a book or a piece of jewellery you’d been eyeing up, each day as well as a some flowers 🥺

- now imagine he miraculously has the day off on valentines day, he will go all out !!

- he’d probably wake up super early, and just admires you...taking in all your beauty, it was rare you both got to spend mornings together so he really wants to savour each moment.

- eventually you’d start to stir and he’d place small kisses across your face making you giggle and leads to sweet gentle sleepy morning sex yep yep

- once you’re done he goes downstairs to bring you breakfast in bed, and you sit together to eat and catch up or he’d read you some of his favourite classic love poems

- you could spend all day in bed if you wanted too but spencers determined to be productive on this rare day off so you quickly shower together and leave the house (maybe it takes a bit longer because you go for round 2 oops)

- he’s not a huge fan of the outdoors what with all the germs and such but he knows you’re a huge fan of picnics so he prepares a lovely lunch at a park nearby, its cold out but that doesnt stop either of you enjoying yourselves

- after a while you end up at a quaint cafe/bookstore and you both pick out a book for each other, something that has become a tradition in your relationship (and you know and love that spencer will just end up reading yours too you)

- he had planned on the two of you going out to a fancy dinner but you were both exhausted after a quick round 3 when you got back home so you bail on those plans

- he wants to order in but you insist that cooking together can be fun, and it is !! spencer wants to be technical with the ingredients whereas you just throw in whatever and the poor boy almost has a meltdown watching you be so chaotic

- but it turns out amazing??? he sets the table with candles and roses and hands you a beautiful card with a note that makes you cry, its so full of love and admiration and you cannot believe you’ve found someone so perfect, who loves you devotedly and unconditionally

- you spend the rest of the night eating the chocolates that he’d been buying you all week whilst watching a doctor who marathon/some sappy rom-com and cuddling, just basking in each other’s presence and enjoying the feeling of having the other near 🥺

- he gets super emotional once you’re both in bed getting ready to sleep, he just feels so lucky, so honoured to be able to love you and call you his???? he spends like an hour listing each and every single thing he loves about you, even long after you’re fast asleep 😭

Having a bet against Spencer you can read quicker than him and he doesn't believe you & you end up beating him and he's shocked & the team are like :OOOOO Spence you have to ask her out

PLEASE ur new to the team so you havent told him you ALSO a genius so spencers all smug and saying things like “I wouldnt even bother.” and “youre never gonna beat me” and youre just sat there like “😁😁 sure, mhm, yep, of course.” SO OBVIOUSLY YOU BOTH START READING THE SAME BOOK, say its on the jet so you have until you reach back home to finish the book. IT IS INTENSE, derek has his timer out, rossi and emily are betting on y’all, hotch and jj are the confused yet supportive parents.... even garcia calls in to watch it all go down...

so 5 minutes from landing you put the book down and spencers smirking up at you like “ah so you admit defeat...” but you just shrug your shoulders and say “nope, im finished.” WHEN I TELL YOU THE JET GOES SILENT, everyone is shocked and reid is sat there like 😳🤨😯.... jj reads out different pages and asks you to about them just to make sure you actually finished.... meanwhile spencers still stuck in a shocked and awe silence... and emilys mad because she bet on spencer and lost money 😭

anyway before you can say anything the jet comes to a halt and you collect your stuff and walk away, and once youre far enough derek walks over to spencer and is like “i think you just met your match pretty boy, why dont you ask her out.” and spencer just nods because that’s exactly what he plans on doing!
