30. Reaction to sudden intrapersonal disaster (eg close family member suddenly dies)

Pat’s had a couple of sudden intrapersonal disasters in his life and his reaction up to this point has never been good. He’s more than certain that his reaction nowadays wouldn’t be any better than it was the last couple of times. Specifically, with his mother’s death, he was all anger and fear and sharp words when somebody tried to help for a very long time. The grief actually didn’t hit until he was with the Alton’s, because he’d never really had a chance to actually sit and mourn his mother. Certainly, there were times that it hit before that, but it was only ever in waves. The reaction to the situation surrounding her death was obviously much more immediate. Of course, his reaction depends on the nature of the disaster itself. The sudden death of a close family member or friend would be pretty likely to shut him down for a little while, all things considered. Regardless of what it is, though, he’d try very hard to keep it to himself. Patroclus feels things very deeply and has a tendency to keep most of the negativity bottled up so he doesn’t bring his friends or family down with him even though he knows that’s definitely not the healthiest of coping mechanisms. Ultimately, his reaction would be very negative.

ACTIVITIES AND PREFERENCES.

29. What kind of activities, interests, and hobbies do they have? What significance and impact do these have in their lives, both positive and negative?30. What is their preferred level of activity and stimulation? How do they cope if they get either too little or too much?31. Is there anything that counts as a “dealbreaker” for them, positively or negatively? What makes things go smoothly, and what spoils an activity or ruins their day? Why?

What kind of activities, interests, and hobbies do they have? What significance and impact do these have in their lives, both positive and negative?

Kouyou is mostly into indoor activities, rather than outdoor ones. Although she would not mind taking strolls or going on hanami, she enjoys the quieter activities like writing and reading. She also performs tea ceremonies and does ikebana. Basically, her hobbies are mostly artistic in nature and are mostly for self-expression. As she is not particularly expressive or to put it accurately, genuine in expressing herself, these arts are what allow her to take initiative in actually showing what is going on inside her mind. All of her works are glimpses of her inner thoughts, even her wagashi. As such, she takes care in their presentation. Aestheticism is a movement deeply rooted in most she creates. There is no beauty in misery, certainly, but that does not mean she does not try to at least make something out of what she feels. These activities also allow her to vent. There are times wherein Kouyou disappears to clear her mind and meditate. She also meditates by way of tea ceremony and ikebana, wherein she either seeks out preferred company or isolation. The latter activity, for her, acts like piecing a huge puzzle but instead of recreating something, she creates her own design and that helps her sort out her thoughts when they get too overwhelming. Reading, meanwhile, is a form of escapism for her. It allows her mind to wander elsewhere. Writing, on the other hand, is like ikebana. It is the creation of a world of her design.

Plus point: She gets to relax and de-stress.Minus point: She gets too immersed and has a hard time returning to reality.

She also sketches. Little things. From cherry blossom petals to people. Not many know about this little hobby but she’s not hiding it. One of her favorite games is KARUTA with the Ogura Hyakunin Isshu or uta-garuta. 

What is their preferred level of activity and stimulation? How do they cope if they get either too little or too much?

Preferably not much. Sadly, she usually is involved with intricate operations and has to be hands-on with the processes. She deals with a huge portion of the Port Mafia’s intel. As such, she’s usually hovering the shadows of the hustle and bustle of dealings and interactions among their connections and problematic individuals or organizations that need monitoring. She deals with her work efficiently but when she gets too overwhelmed, she resorts to escapism, see headcanon above. She mostly retreats within herself to recalibrate and then she’s back to her feet. She does the same with emotion but she’s less effective in handling them if she’s invested in a particular matter. Oftentimes, she simply remains quiet and waits for her anger/distress/whatever intense emotion she has to pass. She… doesn’t really do anything. 

Too little activity. She prefers it over busier days. She would probably appreciate lazy days; the type to use her free time in immersing in her studies or hobbies for relaxational purposes.

Highly unpredicted situations ruin things for her. As a generally reactive person, she can handle unexpected hubbub quite well but that doesn’t mean she likes doing so. It might come as a surprise to most but Kouyou is very meticulous with her planning and scheduling. She does not mind one or two deviations from her design but something that totally messes her schedule offs her. She deals with it but she’s not happy about it. This would include unplanned meetings and whatnot or sudden notices. For one, her days are probably spent speaking to various people at particular times so unplanned meetings that delay her from her next appointment are slight annoyances she does not appreciate. She might also dislike taking sudden big missions. She enjoys planning for everything and her missions are usually drawn out ones unless they’re assassinations. 

A pleasant or a normal day would consist of things moving according to plan with only the slightest bit of deviation. And they do most of the time, thanks to her meticulous planning. Her subordinates find out earlier on how meticulous she can be. She is gravely unforgiving if her plan goes awry because of one mishap on their part because she usually sends them in fully informed and highly informed. She, as someone who knows most of their quirks and skills, only sends them on missions she knows they can handle well.
