I just have to say this: the art design has really stepped up from the previous games (was it, perhaps, all the zany experimentation done by the character designers in the Persona 4 spinoffs? P4A felt like they just said “hey, how can we make the existing characters look even crazier?” and P5 feels like a step up from that. Throw in the expressive dialogue portraits and we’re golden.
Now I’m really badly wishing for a P1 remake using this stylistic approach, preferrably with the Shadow subplot from the manga thrown in to even things out with the way the subsequent games in the series changed the rules of Persona-ing.
(also also, since I was spoiled on the Big Plot Twist a while ago, the entire story surrounding Igor feels like an amazing thing to draw out of the fact that his longtime Japanese VA died and they wanted to justify a change)

1. Persona 5 is decently playable on PC nowadays via the PS3 version (mild stuttering in pre-rendered cutscenes is something we’ve had to live with Playstation emulation since the very first one)
2. The fact that the animesque portraits are animated to match the speech and are in sync with the 3D models was something I did not expect, but it’s pretty neat.
3. You can forget about me posting about anyting else for the next several months, I suppose.
4. Blue butterflies are back in vogue?
