Caitlyn Kenney was a wonderful speaker that has made her mark in society by simply talking to others and grasping her listeners attention. When she began, it was clear that she was the type of person who wasn’t going to let men dictate what was acceptable or not. When she’s in meetings she lets her voice be heard, regardless of whether or not she knows what she’s talking about. However, lets be honest for a second. Even you know sometimes your best work can come from not thinking about a situation too much. This attitude has let her build her empire and has let her gain the respect of her colleagues. In addition, while she isn’t intimidated by a male dominated industry she also knows how being a woman has its advantages. As a woman she really focuses on creating a bond with other woman, and that’s evident when she talks about her time at Bangladesh. When she was talking to the two girls she was able to pick up on the subtle laughter of the younger sister that ultimately led to Kenney’s story. By living with the girls it was easy to get the girls to open up in short amount of time. Now this doesn’t mean a man couldn’t get the story, but being a woman can have it perks. We are thought to be “motherly” to take care of the young. As the saying goes, “It takes a village to raise a child.” Therefore, as a female I know personally I too would feel comfortable talking about a “secret” relationship that I was able to choose with another female. Especially with a female who was older than me, that may have advice or comforting words.....Just as a mother would. I wouldn’t be as forthcoming with my father. Overall, I think Kenney gave a wonderful plenary on how a woman in the workplace can play a huge role in spreading emotion. She ultimately showed she was a normal lady who wanted her listeners to hear the emotion that she was able to see from those she talked to.
