the fight never ends / i can't face the dark without you
♫⋆。♪₊˚ breaking benjamin - without you
(gn reader / comfort / 1.1k words) moments shared with leon after he has a nightmare
LEON KENNEDY PRESSES HIS HAND AGAINST THE WARMTH OF A CERAMIC MUG JUST TO FEEL IT BURN. steam billows into his face when he leans over the top. truthfully, tea had never been his thing. he drank cheap diner coffee when chris forced him out to chat and cleared any tiredness of the night in the morning by splashing cold water on his face.
but cold water doesn’t feel right tonight. not when the bathroom of your apartment is connected to your bedroom where your sleeping body still lies, peacefully dreaming. the pipes are old, leon reasons. their creaking would wake you. or the rattle of the door hinges he still hadn’t fixed. or the ache of the floorboards protesting against his weight.
and he really doesn’t want to feel any colder tonight.
leon lets his eyes flutter shut, content to feel the warmth for a little while longer. the nerves in his hands must be shot, he thinks. or maybe it’s something in his head. this wasn’t a new behavior, but it was something he had done his best to ignore. he had wasted a few years stuffing it down with alcohol. more recently, it had been boxing.
leon sighs. it’s almost soothing in a way. like the feeling of first dipping into a warm bath after a long day.
he leans his weight against the countertop until his hips press into the rounded edges of the marble. there’s an old ache in his knee that only ever returns when it’s about to rain. you had teased him about it once — he was “better than the news.” leon laughed. your fingers massaged the muscle until he could support his weight without complaint.
the mug cools as time passes. the tea no longer steams. leon raises the cup with shaky hands and takes a slow sip. it’s soothing when it hits his throat. the sweetness lingers in his mouth. he lets his eyes flutter shut for just a moment, relaxing his trembling hands once again.
quiet never lasts long. not around leon, anyways. he doesn’t move when the floorboards creak nearby. your footsteps are gentle, but not silent. you knew how to sneak around without being heard. this was a choice; it’s a decision to make yourself known. something in his chest warms.
you make your way to leon’s side, leaning against the countertop beside him. you don’t touch him. not yet. but you stay close enough that he can hear the rustle of your clothes and your own hands pressing against the countertop’s surface.
“couldn’t sleep?” you ask, voice quiet.
leon blinks. his eyes flutter open, staring down at the mug once again. he focuses on the still water inside. he focuses on maintaining the steady rhythm of his breathing. “no,” he finally murmurs. “just… thinking.”
you nod, though leon doesn’t see it. instead, you shuffle slightly closer, letting your knuckles brush against his own. he lets out a breath that comes out shakier than expected. still, his shoulders relax ever so slightly when he does. you don’t push further. you just wait.
leon wraps his right hand around the mug once again, downing the rest of the tea before it goes cold. the ceramic clatters against the countertop when he sets it down. leon cringes, sending a mental apology to your neighbors about the noise.
“it’s supposed to storm in the morning,” you say, almost offhandedly. “might be able to skip your run.”
leon lets an amused huff escape him. it’s easy to read between the lines. skip the run, sleep in instead. he nods, shifting to look at you. you’re tired. he can see it even in the darkness: you blink at him sleepily, half-leaning against the countertop as if you’ll collapse without its support. the idea of you dragging yourself out of bed at an ungodly hour of night just to stand beside him in your kitchen makes leon’s cheeks warm. it almost flusters him.
he moves, gingerly taking your hand into his own. his hands are calloused and hardened from years of weapons training. still, you hold him like he’s something fragile. like someone that deserves to be protected. he offers you a reassuring squeeze and a soft smile. “yeah, maybe i will.”
you shuffle closer, leaning against leon’s chest, now. he accepts you with open arms. he shifts to rest his right hand against your waist, pulling you in until you’re tucked into his hold. you let out a soft sigh. there’s solace in his warmth. leon’s lips brush against your cheek when he leans in, pressing a chaste kiss against the skin.
for a few moments, the world stops. leon holds you impossibly close. his hand slips beneath the hem of your t-shirt to trace miscellaneous shapes against your bare skin. your eyes flutter shut as you lean into his hold. you feel the steady rhythm of his chest rising and falling. he lets out another deep sigh, willing the monsters in the darkness to stay hidden for just a little while longer.
you stay there for so long that you nearly fall back asleep against leon’s chest. rain begins to patter against your windows, interrupting the otherwise peaceful night. leon is almost grateful for the drizzle. maybe he will skip his morning run.
“still thinking?” you mumble, finally breaking the quiet.
leon can’t help but smile softly. his hand raises from your waist to instead cup your cheek, gingerly tracing against your skin. you lean into his touch, still half-asleep. “not anymore,” he murmurs. “come on. let’s go back to bed.”
you nod, eager to follow his lead. leon’s hand falls away from your own to instead rest against the small of your back as you retrace the steps back to your bedroom. the sheets are almost cool when he finally settles back onto his side of the bed. you’re quick to follow, tugging the blankets up to tuck them around him. leon chuckles but doesn’t protest. instead, he waits until you finally curl into his side, resting your head against his chest.
you drape one hand over leon’s waist until it curls naturally against his side. your ear is pressed just over his heart. leon hopes you can’t feel how quickly it beats when you’re pressed against him.
leon waits until your breath evens out and sleep overtakes you once again. your chest rises and falls in a steady rhythm. his hand snakes beneath your shirt once again, desperate to feel the warmth of your skin against his own.
“thank you,” he murmurs into the darkness. it’s only response is the continued patter of rain as leon finally slips back into sleep.

Calls you names like 'angel' 'sweet love' 'baby', and relishes how you react to each, a blush dusting your cheeks as you process his words. There's something about this older man that boys your age can't give you. Protection, stability, that tight feeling in your chest.
You'll never have to drive again, amen. Leon will take you where you need to go or at least send a trusted driver your way. (That government agent money is nooo joke.)
Leon would have one hand on the steering wheel, the other making for a protective touch on your thigh. He's sooo attentive to you, making notes of billboards you take a second glance at, turning up the radio when he hears you start to sing along to it, ugh. Swooon.
You tell your close friends all about Leon. They giggle with you over drinks, saying how lucky you are. This shit was straight out of those trashy books y'all read. A gruff older man built like a weapon and just as deadly? But has a soft spot only for youuuu? Hello.
Speak of the devil, he comes out of the kitchen right as your friends are teasing you. Leon's clad in a shirt too damn tight for his own good, and pecks your cheek for them all to see. He'll bring you all more of that wine you're sharing before retreating to your shared room.
Is a tad paranoid with you working. Why would you want to bust your ass all day for money when he makes more than enough for you both? You and Leon may have gotten into some petty arguments about it before, but he always makes it up to you.
He apologizes with flowers, your favorite candies, oddly - that necklace you were eyeing last girls' night - how did he know that? Your lover says it's just a coincidence, that he knows you best.
Lately, there's been more weird 'coincidences' like that one. You were way too drunk for your own well-being, another night out with your girls. They all split in favor of an uber, and you stay behind. The bar was playing your favorite music, you couldn't just leave! (Drunk you didn't make the best choices.)
The club was tight, stuffy, you're stumbling and bumping into people more than you'd like. You decide on getting some fresh air, maybe a walk would help you sober up? Great idea.
You grab your things and exit the club. The cold air of the night feels great on your skin. You're dressed in a tight halter top, neckline nonexistent. (Leon hated that shirt, it drew attention to your tits. He didn't blame you for it, rather all the perverts who think they have a chance with a pretty young thing like you. Makes him feel like the dirty old man he is.)
(Continued, NSFW under the cut.)
NSFW - drabble
You stagger down the streets, ignorant of the glances men are giving you. Anyone with eyes can see you're wasted. You're a walking target, babe.
You're not aware of a lot of things. Where were you going? You didn't know, now you find yourself out of the clubbing district. The streets aren't as bright as they used to be, just buildings upon buildings with their lights out.
You were also not aware of the black car that's been trailing you for at least ten minutes or more - headlights off, of course.
Leon had been 'in the area.' Oh, who are we kidding? He's following you again, just like he does every night you go out with your friends.
You finally notice him as he honks. "Asshole." You spit out, quickly stopping to let the car pass.
It doesn't, instead the Porsche's driverside window rolls down to reveal your stalker. "Harsh, but okay."
"Leon! Oh, baby I am so happy to see you." You take back your curse from earlier, feeling relieved to see his face. He always comes to your rescue! You see him as a guardian angel, still unaware of his repeated stalking. It isn't fate, this shit is on purpose. Calculated. Practiced.
You almost trip on the way to the window. Leaning into the opening, you give your older boyfriend a clear view of your cleavage. (With the way the shirt splits, it's more than just cleavage. It's a miracle your nipples are still covered, saving you some decency in your drunken state.)
You look like a hooker trying to pick up a customer - have some class.
He gives you a disarming smile, but his words are anything but. "Get in the fucking car. Now."
You don't remember fumbling to the passenger seat, but you sure can hear the scolding you're getting.
"I'm way too old for this shit. Picking you up, drunk off your ass in-" He inhales sharply, the hand on your thigh starting to grip you harder. "In god knows where... wearing that."
You don't hate his scoldings. Hell, you'd be lying if it didn't make you a little hot. You've got issues, but who doesn't?
"M'sorry." You slur your words, pulling up your shirt self-consciously.
"Fuck that, you're ready to show your body for everyone at that club, but now..." Leon removes the hand from your thigh and tugs down your shirt, ripping the cheap fabric down the middle. You're exposed, leaving you in that tight skirt and your plunging bra.
You yelp, too shocked by his actions to ask how he knew you were at a club. He was working today, you didn't have a chance to tell him your plans.
"Why don't you take off that bra, angel." The older man eyes you from the car mirror. You felt small, not all in the moment mentally. Like you've got yourself in big trouble, that tightness in your chest when you'd walk to the principal's office.
Your hands find your head, the buzz from the alcohol becoming too much. You're going to get carsick, fast.
Like Leon could give a fuck right now. He doesn't ask you a second time, taking initative to flick the front closure of your bra open. He takes a nipple and tugs.
It isn't until you threaten to throw up all over his car's expensive interior that Leon finds a place to pull over. It was some backroad shoulder, looks right out of a horror movie. You wouldn't feel safe if it wasn't for your boyfriend - ironically.
Such a nice car parked in a place like this. No matter, Leon can handle it if some shady individuals dare to try him right now. He wouldn't be opposed to blowing someone's brains out for intruding on you two.
You're both in the back seat, but this is Leon Kennedy we're dealing with - he's got a gun under the seat. Loaded, safety off. The thought stirs another fucked up fantasy in his mind, but he puts a pin in it for now. Wait, when did you two get in the back? This is bad, your memories are blending together.
You're in Leon's lap now, facing him. You've long lost your bra and what was left of your shirt. You wince at the feeling of his gloved hands on your thighs. Looks like you're down to your panties.
Your head... your head. It's reeling. It's as if someone hit you square between the eyes. Leon mumbles something along the lines of 'punishment fitting the crime.' You lean against the back of the driver's seat.
"Stay with me, angel." Leon won't let you sleep. He pinches your nipple harshly as he did earlier, turning his hand slightly to the left. You hiss as the pleasure stings into familiar pain. You cry out, you're awake.
"Awake.." You pant, struggling to remain conscious.
Your mind is clouded over, drunk. Leon's painfully hard in his pants at the scene, his pretty little thing all malleable and helpless. He just had to come rescue you. You never know what kind of sick perverts are out there. (Or in this car with you.)
"Anyone could have come and picked you right off the curb." Leon's lecturing you again, the grip on your plush thighs becomes painful. You'll see bruises tomorrow - damn, he was strong for his age. "Would you like some random man groping you like this? Huh?"
You want to argue with him, to tell him that you're more careful than that - responsible. Truth is, if Leon hadn't been threatening the other man following you? You'd be in that exact situation. To think of it, you did hear a large 'thud' at some point in your drunken stroll.
Your lover makes quick work of your panties, you think you see him stuff them in his jacket.
He doesn't care to take off his gloves, shoving two covered fingers up your cunt. The stretch is instant, painful - it burns. You almost forgot this was a punishment. You try to squirm out of his iron grip, to no avail.
"Nuh.. nah.. hurts." You drool out your words, "Stah..."
Your protests are lost on the older man. Even as you stand - as far as you can while still straddling him - he keeps up the brutal pace.
"You're going to learn this lesson, sober or not. That's not my fucking problem you drank too much." Leon's speaking at you, knowing you're too far gone to be spoken to.
Sobbing, you're not going anywhere. You're trapped in this earned hell. You're bracing yourself against the ceiling of the luxury car, tears falling down onto your lover's lap. Still glad to see him?
His free hand wipes the tears from your face, smudging your makeup in the process. The leather glove stinks of - what you didn't realize at the time - gunshot residue. Leon dons a shit-eating grin as he wipes the mess around your face.
You hate it when he does that. You'd much rather have the sweet, love-making Leon you've come accustomed to.
"Yucky.. yucky!" You try to shut your mouth as your lover attempts to shove his tear and makeup-stained gloved fingers down your throat. You didn't stand a chance against him. Leon gets his way and presses his middle finger down on the middle of your tongue, his index forming a hook to keep your mouth wide open for him. The dubious amount of drinks you had tonight didn't help your gag reflex either. He pulls back right before you'd vomit on him.
You lose your grip on reality as the breath floods back into your lungs. That tightness in your core, right above your clit. You're gonna squirt from this fucked up punishment. Thankfully, you're insanely wet for your older lover, so the gloves don't hurt as much as they did at the start. Your pussy tightens around Leon's fingers.
"Luh.. love you! I'm so sorrysorrysorry..." You gave up running a while ago. You're limp, supported by the man responsible for your rescue and ruin. You keep begging for forgiveness as you squirt all over Leon, the orgasm he forced upon you sending shockwaves through your body.
"I love you too, baby." He keeps thrusting his large fingers in and out, in and out, taking breaks to pull out so you can squirt to your fullest. "I love you so much that I came all the way out here to get your ass off of these streets - punish you so you can make a better fucking choice next time." See, he really did care! If you were gonna get snatched by a psychopath tonight, aren't you glad it's him?
────୨ৎ────
You passed the fuck out right after that orgasm. Leon held you close, rocking you back and forth in his arms. You'd pass in and out of reality, hearing his loving words - happy to know he didn't mean any of the harsh words he'd be yelling at you earlier.
"You did so good for me, sweet love." The older man's voice becomes soft, encompassing you. He hums a tune you hardly recognize as you drift to sleep in his arms, ruined and fucked out.
You wouldn't remember anything past your climax the next morning, but Leon's dedicated to aftercare no matter. You were wrapped in your favorite blanket from home before being carefully tucked in the passenger seat. He'd click the seatbelt over your sleeping frame, afraid any more rough treatment would shatter you for good.
Leon S. Kennedy was your guardian angel, in his own fucked up way - and you wouldn't have it any other way. You smile in your sleep, dreaming of him even now.
a/n: THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING IT TO THE END... UH WHAT DID YOU THINK?? DID YOU LIKE IT, DID YOU WANT TO RUN AWAY OR BLOCK ME?? HAHA

ship: Chris && Wesker (S.T.A.R.S. era) ⸻
22: ﹝…in a rush of adrenaline﹞
With late summer well on the way, the streets of Raccoon City seemed more reminiscent of a cauldron, reflective surfaces of towering office buildings in the city proper only intensifying the heat, causing the air to flicker even in the late afternoon hours.
Fortunate citizens elected to remain in their air-conditioned homes, while others took refuge in the recently opened swimming area at the Mendez River Docks. Children swarmed the Cafés in hopes of some quickly depleting ice cream, and fans were sold out everywhere, as notices plastered all over the city shopping area declared.
Still, none of it could compare to the heat of their breaths exchanged in much-too-close proximity as they stood, pressed against each other in spite of their layers of tactical equipment and cloth sticking to their damp skin, in an alleyway a few blocks away from the R.C.P.D.
It was dangerous, and stupid, yet alluring - a combination most enticing despite the risk it posed.
Wesker could hear the quickened breath, could feel it brush against his own lips while the both of them remained in stasis, a moment frozen in time as ocean blue observed amber from behind the security of shaded glass; calculating and studying as he always did, especially with Chris.
The younger man had fascinated him from the moment he set foot into the S.T.A.R.S. office, and only kept pulling him in with easy smiles and boyish charm, a lighthearted stubbornness tethering him to his Captain as it seemed.
Carefully testing boundaries and pushing buttons for the mere sake of curiosity needing satiation, their dance having already lasted numerous months, moth to flame, flame to moth.
Mere moments before, their team had ended their monthly training parkour, leading them through the Arklay Forest, down the trail and around the south of Raccoon City, past the university and across the circular river to the end point. Along the way, they faced various mock-encounters to prepare for actual emergencies.
By the end of it, every single one of them was out of breath, sweating and, some of them, cursing.
It wasn’t unusual for Chris to stroll along back to the R.C.P.D. with Wesker, idly chatting away or trying to glean some personal information by prodding the older man with questions, but this time the blond could tell there was something else on his point-man’s mind.
Having spent as much time together on - and off - duty as they had, it became increasingly easy for Wesker to identify certain thought patterns in the other, especially when it came to him wanting to be inappropriately close in public.
The hope of distracting the brunet and seizing the upperhand in all situations had long since been abandoned as Chris proved to only be spurred on when being told no, and thus gears had been shifted to enticing the other with secrecy.
The thrill of it seemed to work wonders, thankfully enough, and ensured at least a modicum of safety for Wesker, who found himself distracted more often than he had liked from the reality of their escapisms being not only dangerous for both their careers (as much as his was a farce, he still took pride in it), but also for his charade.
And it certainly didn’t make things easier when it came to planning his desertion from Umbrella in the upcoming months.
A gentle touch from soft lips catching his lower one in a playful attempt to bring forth a reaction snapped Wesker from his train of thoughts, an involuntary shiver sliding down his back causing a tensing of his shoulders, while the other one’s hands reached to remove obtrusive shades from the bridge of his nose, tucking them away carefully in his breast pocket without breaking eye contact.
Narrowing his eyes briefly in the low light, Wesker reached, fingers of one hand curling around Chris’ chin, feeling the stubble under his tips as he tilted his head slowly, his eyes with no expression, not betraying the hunger and want he had felt all day while watching the other exert himself in the summer heat.
Still their hearts pounded an unforgiving beat against their chests, blood rushing through their veins and dusting the younger one’s cheeks red, only noticeable by the analytic gaze of blue eyes never missing a detail despite the sinking sun’s glow upon their skin.
Words were considered for a brief moment as Wesker weighed the thought of teasing the other further, and by doing so inviting a chance to move their entanglement to his apartment, but when his lips parted, he could feel Chris’ body move against his in a sudden, unexpectedly strong motion, pushing up towards him despite fingers holding his chin, even ignoring the reflexive, warning pressure Wesker applied.
Hardly as composed as the blond was, Chris clearly had no patience for games and no thoughts left for any danger of possible exposure as his fingers curled into what little cloth of his Captain’s shirt he could grasp to pull him closer, lips pressing in unexpected desperation against his mouth and, when smoothed against each other, releasing a soundless sigh Wesker swallowed.
Just when he thought he had successfully mastered the adrenaline coursing through his veins, Chris ignited the cinders again, fanning the fire like he always did, being the harbinger of unwise decisions Wesker was certain he would eventually regret one day.
Momentarily, however, he allowed himself to indulge, his hand releasing the other’s chin and grabbing his neck instead, fingernails digging into smooth skin before sliding up into soft hair where they curled and grabbed, tugging hard enough to bring forth an exquisite sound, muffled only by their sealed lips.
Intent on taking back control of the situation, he proceeded to part warm and soft lips with his tongue, too impatient and greedy to take his time, but finding Chris pliant and welcoming.
Wesker was no fool - he knew the implications of their actions, his actions, but found himself unable to resist all the same.
Still, one of these days he would have to end whatever it was they had.
━━ boyfriend!leon whom you meet at a gym. it’s early — so early that the sun still hasn’t risen. still, he paces around the empty machines like a shark, retracing the same workout routine that he had become so complacent in
━━ boyfriend!leon who startles when you offer a kind smile from across the room. “good morning,” you say, voice still heavy with sleep. he politely nods back, almost seamlessly falling back into his routine. “morning”
━━ boyfriend!leon who begins noticing you more. you exist on the edges of his life at first, just another familiar face he sees everyday at the gym. still, he finds himself softening ever so slightly. his smiles are more relaxed. he makes gentle conversation when he catches you just about to leave for the day. he steals glances when you’re not looking and blushes when you notice
━━ boyfriend!leon who doesn’t notice when things changed; they just did. it’s after a day you didn’t come to the gym but his gaze catches on the door every few minutes, anxiously awaiting your arrival. when you finally wander in, a little later than usual, he catches you after your stretches. “it’s good to see you again,” he says. then, quietly, “i missed you yesterday”
━━ boyfriend!leon who leaves the gym with a new number saved in his phone and an unmistakable smile on his lips. he goes to work like normal, sitting through meetings as if he cares what his bosses have to say. but his mind drifts more than usual, still stuck on your soft smile and the way your laugh made everything feel okay
━━ boyfriend!leon who calls you that night. you pick up on the third ring, just long enough for his heart to nearly jump out of his chest. his breath catches in his throat for a moment when your voice filters through the speakers. leon swallows his nerves. “hi,” he says. “how was your day?”
━━ boyfriend!leon who invites you out to dinner that weekend. as friends, he says. still, he wears his best suit and takes extra care to style his hair. still, he arrives ten minutes early and spends that time anxiously fidgeting with his watch. still, he can’t hide the flush that spreads across his cheeks and lingers on the tips of his ears when you greet him with a bright smile and a quick hug
━━ boyfriend!leon who stays out well into the night — past the time he promised himself to be home. your dinner stretches into dessert, and then into a quiet drive around the city until leon finally arrives at your door. he pulls onto the curb, leaving the car on as you hum along to the stupid song playing on the radio. but all he can focus on is how sweet your voice sounds and how fast his heart is beating in his chest
━━ boyfriend!leon who kisses you that night. you’re standing on your front porch turned away from the door like you don’t quite want to go inside yet. he raises a hand slowly, gingerly resting it against your cheek. you flush at the contact but take a step closer regardless. leon’s breath catches in his throat but all his worries seem to disappear when your lips meet his own
━━ boyfriend!leon who begins to incorporate you into his routine. it becomes a habit, almost as unconscious as breathing. you start arriving to the gym at the same time. he calls you during his lunch hour and hums along to your passionate summary of your day. dinner becomes a shared activity filled with laughter
━━ boyfriend!leon who has nightmares. he wakes up at odd hours in a cold sweat. he shoots up with a gasp, resisting the urge to search the darkness for the monsters he knows linger in the unknown. leon hides his head in his hands as he poorly attempts to stabilize his breathing
━━ boyfriend!leon who flinches the first time you try to comfort him. his entire body jolts when you press a hand against his shoulder. “i’m sorry,” you say quietly. you lean over, turning on the lamp and letting its golden light flood the room. leon closes his eyes. he imagines you getting up to leave, gathering your belongings and walking out of his life forever, leaving behind a broken man who can’t even sleep through the night
━━ boyfriend!leon who doesn’t feel like he can breathe until you crawl back into bed beside him. you’re on your knees, now, leaning in until you’re eye-level with him. “leon, please look at me.” your voice is calm and steady. he clings to the feeling like a life raft in a storm. “try to breathe, okay? deep breaths.”
━━ boyfriend!leon who cries for the first time in a long time in your arms. he breaks like a dam. tears flow down his cheeks in a steady stream before they disappear into the fabric of your t-shirt. you hold him close through it all, coaxing his head to rest against your chest as you run your fingers through his hair. “it’s okay,” you whisper. your lips brush against the crown of his head. leon curls himself even closer into your hold. “i’m here.”
━━ boyfriend!leon who opens up slowly. it comes in moments; it’s more of a trickle than a wave. his voice is quiet. his confessions are murmured through hushed whispers. still, you hold his hand through it all
━━ boyfriend!leon who tells you he loves you for the first time that night. his head is still leaning against your chest so he can hear your heartbeat. he takes breaths along with its rhythm, letting the feeling ground him. you’ve fallen back asleep. your chest rises and falls in a deep, steady rhythm. leon tucks himself around you. for once, he feels safe. “i love you”

your pretty eyes don't give me much choice, but i'll take them on
(gn reader / 1.5k words / angst?) still fighting against the plagas, you and leon make your way through the castle where you meet friends and foes part one / part two
hope was a fickle thing. LEON KENNEDY knew this very well. his first brush with death had occurred when he was just a child. blood stained the walls of his childhood home, complete with crime scene tape and swarming with police.
the second time came a decade later. he had been younger, then, wide-eyed and naive and unaware. raccoon city had once been a city of mystery. it promised something more - something bigger than himself. those dreams came to a swift, painful end, ending before leon could even step foot within city limits.
his life had hardened him. leon had learned to bite his tongue and swallow pain. he cried silently and only in the rain. his wounds were nursed by whiskey instead of bandages. leon didn’t visit graveyards. he didn’t reminisce on fallen friends and past allies. he was better than that. stronger.
or so he told himself.
“shit!” leon clenches his fist tight and hard. he has half a mind to swing it straight into the wall but stops just short of the cobblestones. hunnigan had silently slipped off the air, leaving him to his misery. leon replays the message over and over in his mind. “the helicopter won’t arrive for a few hours,” she said. “the storm is too severe - the pilot is making an emergency landing.”
a few hours, he thinks. you don’t have a few hours.
“leon,” you’re half-leaning against the wall, using it to support the weight of your own body. the deep veins have spread to your face now. they stretch across your features in long, black lines, especially dark around your eyes. “it’s okay.”
leon shakes his head. he bites his tongue, finally turning to face you. there are storms in his icy blue eyes. his lips curl into a small, defeated frown. the sight makes your own lips quirk downwards, though you do your best to disguise it. “it’s not.”
you step forward. your hand is on his shoulder now, gently massaging the tendons at the junction of his neck and shoulder in that way you always do. leon sighs, allowing some of the tension to slip away from his shoulders. your skin is warm despite the cool castle walls. your movements are a little stiff because of your glove but he relishes in the comfort anyways.
“we need to go,” you say quietly. leon reluctantly opens his eyes, though you don’t move away. not yet. instead, he leans into your touch, chasing the comfort of your warmth brushing against his skin. “it’s not safe here.”
leon simply nods. you were right. it was better to stay hidden, moving in the shadows when you could. besides, you were still searching for a cure, regardless of how dire the situation had become.
the castle’s mining tunnels provided less than ideal conditions. cobwebs hung low, almost impossible to avoid. dust and ash coated the various cobblestones and piles of coal that had been accumulated over years. there was little light and uneven ground, decorated with collapsed ladders and abandoned platforms.
“well, look who it is!” luis’ voice echoes throughout the space when he calls out. he’s far enough away that you have to squint, barely able to make out his silhouette in the darkness. he stands on a small, metal platform in front of more machinery behind him. a small smirk tugs at the corners of his lips as he waves. “good to see you again.”
leon remains silent, instead walking towards luis. you follow after him, making your way onto the platform with him. the panelling feels unsteady beneath your feet - like it might collapse beneath your combined weight at any moment.
regardless, luis steps aside, gesturing to the elevator behind him with an unearned feeling of grandeur. “fancy, isn’t it?” he says, stepping into the shaft. the elevator creaks in protests, joints squealing as they slowly work to raise the metal box you stand in. “and it still works.”
the elevator is illuminated by a small light hanging from the ceiling. it feels weirdly out of place in the castle. a small, metal framing surrounds the flickering light bulb. moths occasionally flutter around it, fruitlessly chasing the light.
leon readjusts his knife in its holster, fingers momentarily brushing against the cool leather handle. the elevator jolts to an abrupt stop, making you flinch. the doors open with an overwhelming effort. luis spins on his heel, wandering out into the night.
“come on!” he calls. leon trails after him, you by his side. “now that we’re out of the mines, we can-”
his words end in a gasp. his body jolts, then stiffens. your eyebrows furrow. “we can what?”
luis doesn’t answer - can’t answer. he chokes, first on air, then on his own blood. it fills his mouth quickly, dripping down his mouth as he collapses to his knees. “long time no see, rookie.” the man’s voice is deep and raspy. you’ve heard it somewhere before. and leon has, too.
“major krauser?” he says in disbelief. “why?”
krauser kneels down, then picks up a vial. he taps his fingers against it mockingly. “recovering stolen goods.”
he walks confidently, almost relaxed as he approaches. your hand is on your gun in seconds. then, there’s a blade pressed against your neck, dancing against your skin. krauser meets your eyes, then scoffs. “you should let this one go,” he says, turning back to leon. “too far gone.”
leon clenches his jaw. his hand is around the handle of his knife in seconds, the weight comfortable in his hand.
it all happens in seconds. you grab onto krauser’s wrist, twisting away from the blade and kicking him away. it slices through your skin, though you pay no mind to the blood that rolls down your neck as a result. leon is quick to follow your lead, stepping forwards with his own knife.
you move as one, dodging and weaving attacks from krauser and offering some of your own. you slash him once in the forearm, deep and painful. leon continues with one of his own, this time nicking the man’s side, just between his ribs. he simply hisses. “not bad.”
the fight is mostly a blur of attacks and retreats, balancing on a fine line between trying to disarm krauser and not being killed yourself. leon grits his teeth when krauser knocks him off his feet, sending him tumbling to the ground below. a fresh pain blossoms in his hip but he doesn’t have time for that now.
you grunt when he lands a kick to your stomach. the strength of it is enough to push you backwards into the wall, knocking the wind out of you in the process. krauser stands over you, a mocking smile on his lips. “no!” leon is quick, scrambling back to his feet as he rushes to take hold of his own weapon. you push yourself up on your forearm, fighting through the pain. black spots have begun to spread throughout your vision. there’s a pounding ache in your head and searing pain spreading throughout your entire body.
you flinch back when a gunshot rings out, the sound echoing throughout the night. it hits the middle of krauser’s blade but misses his hand, sending the knife clattering to the ground. he pauses; then he laughs. a loud, humorless sound. krauser glares, but retreats, turning his attention back to leon.“you haven’t changed a damn bit,” he snarls at leon. “what a disappointment.”
leon scrambles, rushing to your aid as fast as he can. he kneels down beside you, cradling your head in his hands. “hey, hey,” he says quietly. you blink up at him, tired and bloody. leon frowns. his hand moves to rest against your cheek, gently stroking against the skin. “it’s okay. i’m here.”
you lift your head slightly when luis stumbles closer. he collapses beside you, leaning his head back against the elevator entrance you had been knocked into. he coughs, then sighs. “it’s not looking good, my friends.”
leon frowns. he reaches over, hesitantly placing his free hand against luis’ shoulder. “don’t talk.”
luis shakes his head as if to disregard the statement. then, he reaches out, grabbing onto leon’s hand. “take this,” he says through shaky breaths. ”the key to my laboratory. go there… and get rid of those damn… parasites.”
“luis…” leon says. his fingers brush against a cool, iron key. it feels heavy in his hand, rusted around the edges and scratched on its face.
“don’t worry about me,” luis smiles weakly. his hand falls back to his side as his eyes flutter shut. “go. save yourselves.”
his death is quick - quicker than most leon had seen. he bites his tongue as luis takes one last, shaky breath. then, his entire body shudders, as if finally releasing the last of his energy. he slumps to the side and fully collapses against the wall behind him.
the rumble of thunder shakes the sky. a crack of lightning fills the night, momentarily illuminating the world. rain begins falling in waves, soaking through leon’s clothes and flattening his hair against his forehead. he waits until the rain covers his face, droplets of water rolling down his cheeks. then, leon blinks his tears away. “thank you,” he whispers into the night, hoping someone can hear him.

can u write a leon kennedy x reader where reader was scouting and then got infected and leon desperately tries 2 find the cure before reader turns .. happy ending or not idm /nf !!!
'cause i'd do anything to hold your hand
(gn reader / 1.3k words / angst?) you realize you're infected with the las plagas virus
part one / part two / part three
you didn't notice it at first. it began as just a small, stinging feeling in your right forearm. between your racing heartbeat and the knife still gripped tightly between your fingers, it was easy to ignore. you startle when the beast in front of you shifts. its body has contorted around itself, proportions far too long to be considered human anymore. still, it perseveres.
beside you, LEON KENNEDY spares you a short glance. you can feel the way his icy blue eyes linger on your face for just a second too long. then, he turns back to face the monster. leon raises his arm almost mechanically. not even a second passes before he fires a single shot into its head. the beast falters at that, finally collapsing against the ground with a quiet thump.
you let out a quiet sigh, through your shoulders remain tense. this time, leon's gaze doesn't break from you. his shoes sink into the mud as he takes a few steps closer to you. his blond hair now looks a shade of light brown. the strands stick to his forehead and temples.
both of your bodies have been thoroughly soaked by the rain. you tuck your knife back into its halter before holding your hand out, letting the droplets collect on your palm. a mixture of mud and blood runs off the side.
"let's find somewhere to rest," leon calls over the noise from the roaring downpour. you offer a curt nod in reply, silently following as he wanders out of the makeshift wooden arena.
the castle's corridors are long and winding. they twist in seemingly nonsensical directions, all held together with nothing more than stone and wood. the light from leon's flashlight is the only thing that breaks through the pitch blackness. the silence is interrupted by your heavy footsteps.
it isn't long before you find a small, wooden door amidst the stone. leon pauses for a moment, glancing back at you. silently, you grab your knife, curling your fingers into the leather handle. its weight almost feels comforting in your hand. leon's own hand ghosts against his holster as if to check his gun is still there. then, without a word, he raises his hand, and pushes the door open.
the wood whines in protest with the movement. its hinges have rusted over, corroded by years of solitude. leon persists, however, forcing it until there's enough room for both of your bodies to slip inside.
the room is nothing special. you spot a small wooden notch in the wood, complete with a makeshift candle that has long since burnt out. you quickly holster your knife before using a lighter to ignite the wood. the small fire casts a golden glow across the room.
a large, wooden table rests against the side wall. a large pile of cobblestones spills from the corner. every surface is covered in a thick layer of undisturbed dust. cobwebs dangle from the ceiling. you're not sure if the spiders who made them are still alive. it seems like the room has been left frozen in time.
without a word, leon returns to your side. his body is so close you can hear the soft sound of his breathing. his shoulder skims against your own, almost like a reminder that he's there. the door closes behind you with a loud thud where the wood meets stone once again.
for a moment, time stills. there are no monsters. nothing is coming to hurt you. no one is trying to kill you. for a moment, it's just you and leon. his face is illuminated by the golden glow of the fire. you can see the tired gleam in his eyes - one that matches your own. his hair has started to dry, now, returning to its original dirty blond. his clothes are damp, but the water on his skin has dried.
for a moment, it's peaceful.
but everything comes to an end.
"are you alright?" leon asks. his voice is quiet, though there's an unusual waver behind the words. he swallows - a nervous habit you had noticed. leon had a lot of little ticks when he worked. little mantras that calmed his nerves during hard days. now, all of them seemed to come out in full force.
"i feel okay." there's a beat of silence. leon's gaze never leaves your own. "why?"
his lips part. then, whatever words he wanted to say disappear, buried into a deep recess of his mind once again. leon silently reaches out. he moves slowly, as if you're a feral animal he's worried of scaring off. his gloved hand scratches against your bare skin when he gently tugs the sleeve of your shirt upwards, exposing your forearm to the light.
there, undeniably embedded into your skin, is the beginnings of the las plagas virus. deep, black veins stretch out from the central point. they stretch across your body, already growing at a rapid rate. the edges are raised slightly. they pulse with each beat your heart makes. the skin surrounding it is covered in hues of blue and purple, the same sickly color as the villagers you had fought mere hours ago. the toxins have already begun to make themselves known.
your body freezes. you stare at the injury. leon's hand has fallen down to your wrist. his thumb rubs small circles against your skin as if to soothe you from the pain of the realization. you can't move. can't talk. you can't even blink.
you don't even notice yourself trembling until leon's grip tightens. he takes another step closer to you. his right hand ghosts against your lower back - not enough to be felt, but enough to know that he's there. you can almost feel his hesitation when he pulls back just before touching you, overly cautious to cross any lines.
"you were shaking during the fight," he explains. the beat of silence that follows lasts too long. leon doesn't finish his sentence. he doesn't need to. and then i saw it.
truthfully, your hands had a tendency to tremble after fights. the adrenaline coursing through your body was never a comforting feeling. it would eventually fade into nausea and then a dull ache in your chest, always present and impossible to ignore.
this was different. this knocked the air out of your lungs. it paralyzed you. this was the beginning of the end. the beginning of a slow, painful death. you blink away unshed tears, though your effort does little to prevent them from coming. a lump forms in your throat.
"leon." you're doing your best to remain unaffected, but your voice betrays you. you feel like a child again - desperately trying to escape the nightmare you've found yourself in. his grip tightens around your wrist. his shoes scuff against cobblestone when he shuffles closer, now fully closing the distance between your bodies. you can almost hear the lecture he would give if you tried to pull away. you can't hide from me. i'm your partner.
leon debates offering an answer, but you beat him to it. in a quiet, barely there whisper, your voice fills the night. "i'm scared."
the silence that falls between you feels suffocating. there is nothing leon can say. nothing he can do. so, instead, he wraps his arms around you. his eyes flutter shut as you hide yourself away against his chest. he's sure his rapid heartbeat is enough to rival your own.
your fingers dig into leon's shoulders, gripping into the fabric of his shirt and clawing at his tendons. his own hands rest against your sides in an attempt to hold your shaking body steady. he doesn't say anything about the way a few stray tears drip against his neck. in return, you ignore his unsteady breathing and small sniffle of his own.
leon squeezes his eyes shut, so hard that a few stray tears of his own drip down his cheeks. he bites his tongue, hoping the pain will distract him from the dull ache forming in his chest. anything else would send the dam breaking. leon sends a quiet prayer into the sky, hoping it reaches someone. something.
please give me one more chance.

if you kiss me goodnight / i'll know, everything is alright
(gn reader / fluff / 1.2k words) after a long day, leon returns home to his lover
spring came with the promise of rain. dark, heavy clouds hung heavy in the sky. they blocked the usual sunset, golden light no longer filtering across the ground. LEON KENNEDY grips his car steering wheel between his hands, eyes momentarily darting towards his side mirrors. the highway was empty save for the few cars that sped past him. leon barely spared them a glance, instead staring at the road ahead.
reaching over, he turns on the static-y radio built into the car’s stereo system. it flickers to life quietly, the silence now filled with the low hum of a man’s voice. it’s low and gravely and hard to hear through the grainy audio. leon flicks the volume knob higher just in time to hear a woman respond, making a few remarks of her own.
“you make a great point, dan,” she says. her voice is soft and sweet. “the raiders have had a great season but i’m still hoping for jackson to pull it back. he was a great choice for the team.” the breaks on leon’s car squeal as he slows, finally rolling towards a stoplight. it’s the first one he’s seen in hours - and the first sign that he’s finally reached the city once again.
the radio continues in the background when leon resumes, unconsciously following the path back to your house. the sportscast commentary continues, little more than background noise. instead, leon watches the landscape.
raindrops begin to fall. they land on the roof of his car. they’re small at first but quickly run down the windshield, forcing him to turn on the wipers. they splatter against the glass, blurring his vision from the outside. leon curses himself for not bringing the stupid baby blue umbrella you had offered that morning. “it’s gonna rain tonight,” you had warned. “you’ll come home soaked like a wet cat.” he had scoffed at that, but it seems your description wouldn’t be too far off, now.
he drives past the bar he had grown too fond of. chris had chewed him out there, slamming a glass on the table so hard it made the bartender send leon a nasty glare. their whiskey was cheap and easy to down. it had taken him longer than he’d like to admit not to sit in the parking lot until it closed, willing himself not to get out of the car.
he passes a local park. the local schoolchildren have filtered out, now, leaving the swingset and slides empty. the storm had been enough for parents to take their children home, wary of the upcoming storm.
leon turns left, then takes a sharp right. the windshield wipers move furiously against the glass, wiping away the water as quickly as possible. your apartment building was a newer build. it sat close to the city park, each unit inside complete with a balcony and a washer-dryer unit. the relator had made it a point to emphasize the new flooring and “spacious” kitchen, though truthfully leon was barely listening to the man’s words.
he slows to a near stop before pulling onto the street parking. he reverses slowly, careful not to scrape the tires against the curb or the bumper against the minivan behind him. the truck engine stops with a quiet purr, seemingly grateful to have a break after hours of use. leon flicks the keys in his hand, catching a small keychain in his palm. a small, heart locket, engraved with your initials. he smiles when the metal glints against the fluorescent lights above.
leon sighs, glancing out the window. rain falls in waves, now, already beginning to create a small puddle on the road. he tucks his car keys into the palm of his hand, tugs the hem of his jacket up further over his shoulders, and makes a break for your front door.
the apartment lobby is empty when he arrives. leon drags his boots against the welcome mat outside in a haphazard attempt to clean the dirt off of his shoes. you’ll scold him later, anyways, and he’ll have to take them off before he enters, but he’d hate to make the janitor’s life any harder. once he’s satisfied, leon slips inside.
a savory aroma fills the air as he opens the door to your apartment. you’re standing near the stove, cutting a few vegetables as a steak cooks on the stove. quickly, your dog - biscuit - comes bounding towards the door, greeting him with a wagging tail and a low bow. the sight brings a smile to his face. “hey, buddy,” he says, locking the door behind him.
leon sets his shoes to the side, careful not to get any dirt on the floor. he tugs his jacket off, next, hanging the soaked garment on the thin, metal rack in the corner. the rain had soaked through the wool, reaching his compression shirt below. he runs a hand through his wet strands of hair before leaning down to pat biscuit’s side. she responds in kind, nuzzling her nose against his knee before she wanders off, returning to her bed with a loud sigh.
silently, leon enters your kitchen. your phone sits on the counter, a song quietly playing through the speakers. he recognizes it as one of your favorites. the corners of his lips curl upwards softly as he reaches over, turning the volume up a few times. you don’t say anything. not yet.
leon’s arms snake around your waist, his head falling against the crook of your shoulder. you flinch at the feeling of his wet hair against your bare skin. he smiles, pressing a chaste kiss against your shoulder as he nuzzles himself even closer to your body. a laugh escapes you as you squirm in his hold. “leon!”
“hey, babe,” he whispers. you smile brightly as he shifts, this time pressing a kiss against the nape of your neck. the contact is enough to make you shiver and leon smirk. his fingertips slip underneath the hem of your shirt, dancing along the curve of your waist. “missed you today.”
“i missed you, too,” you say. his grip loosens when you twist, turning to face him. your hands are cool when you cup his face, tracing your fingertips against his cheekbones. leon sighs softly, leaning his head against the palm of your hand. “long day?”
he simply hums. leon raises his hand, gently wrapping it around your wrist. he tugs you ever so slightly, pressing a kiss against the palm of your hand. you chuckle at the ticklish feeling. your free hand falls to his neck, brushing your hands through the hair near the nape of his neck.
“dinner’s almost ready,” you say quietly. leon’s eyes flicker open at that, icy blue as they bore into your own. his features seem to soften, the tension in his shoulders finally slipping away. “let’s eat first. if you’re up for it, we can watch a movie tonight, okay?”
leon smiles brightly. he wraps his hand around your own, pressing another chaste kiss against your hand. this time his lips brush against your fingertips. his lips are chapped when they brush against your skin. he knows you’ll scold him about it, later, shoving a container of vaseline into his hands and making him promise to apply it regularly. but you’ll still kiss him, chapped lips and all, just like you’re doing now. “i love you,” he whispers against your lips.
you smile, pulling him even closer. “i love you too, leon.”

(gn reader / 836 words / angst? / cw for brief illusions to self harm) desperate to find a cure, you and leon continue your search
part one here! / part two / part three here!
LEON KENNEDY liked to believe he was a strong man. powerful. stable. someone who didn't get attached. death was part of the job - danger even more so. and yet, here he is, awake. trembling.
moonlight paints the world silver. winds hit against the castle walls with a fervor. they whistle through the metal bars covering the windows. a thick layer of dust coats the undistirbed room. a small pile of stones sits abandoned in the corner. the torch illuminating the room has since burnt out, leaving only ash behind.
the stone wall you lean against is less than comfortable. the edges dig into your back at an awkward angle and the dust leaves you struggling for clean air, but leon doesn't complain. not when you're leaning against him, resting your body weight against his own like you belong there.
your hair tickles against his jawline. your head rests against his chest. you can feel the steady beating of his heart hammering against his chest. in the night, leon holds his breath just so he can hear your own. if you're breathing, you're alive. his hand finds a place against your wrist. he can feel the warmth of your skin. the soft thump of your steady pulse. the raised edges of your veins, spreading slowly, but surely.
leon squeezes his eyes shut. he imagines a better, simplier life. one where your bodies are pressed together on a soft mattress, curled up beneath soft blankets. a dog would rest at your feet - german shepard, maybe. leon had always wanted one. sunlight would filter in through your windows. you would dance through the night, nursing a bottle of whiskey or sharing a pint of ice cream. it would be simple. quiet. peaceful.
but that life is far from here. now, all tthat exists is the weight of your body pressed against his own. the steady beating of your heartbeat. overtaken by exhaustion, leon's eyes flutter shut, allowing the sound of your breathing to fill the quiet.
it gets worse before it gets better. that's what luis had said, anyways - las plagas was a slow, painful death. one that ate you alive, inside and out. the words ring in leon's head like a mantra. like no matter how fast or how far he runs, it'll never be enough to outrun fate.
one step at a time - that's what you had promised. through shaky breaths and teary eyes, your hands clung onto his own, whispering promises into the night. we'll make it out. it'll be okay. but your chest tightens with each breath. wood crunches beneath your feet. your hands tremble at your sides.
the castle walls are winding. you wander in endless circles. leon clenches his jaw. bites his tongue until he tastes blood. his nails dig into the thick fabric of his gloves. he almost wishes he could feel them dig into his flesh. instead, he tightens his grip around his flashlight. it bounces off of low-hanging cobwebs and illuminates dust particles floating through the air.
leon's steps falter. his shoes scuff against the ground as he stumbles over his own feet. sloppy, he thinks. the cough that racks through your body is violent. it echoes against the walls; the sound overtakes the space and leaves nowhere for you to hide. you double over, knee hitting the ground. leon's chest tightens.
he rushes to your side without thinking. your body shakes and trembles until it finally passes. leon doesn't mention the blood drippling down your chin. instead, he places a tentative hand against your back, coaxing you through the aftershocks of the fit.
"don't worry." your voice is raspy. talking feels like swallowing glass - like each word rips your throat open more and more. blood coats your teeth. leon's fingertip swipes at your bottom lip. "i'm fine."
you're not. the words feel like fire on leon's tongue. nothing is fine. but his pessimism won't help. instead, he swallows them down, pushing them back into a deep recess of his mind, right next to his nightmares about raccoon city and the endless what if's that have never seemed to escape his mind.
"can you keep walking?" leon asks. his hand slips away from your back. you both silently miss its warmth. he takes a step back, holding his hand out for you to take. you acknowledge his words with a silent nod before interlacing your fingers with his own. your skin is cool against his. the thought makes leon shudder.
"it shouldn't be far." leon says, like the words have meaning. you go to pull your hand away, but pause when leon's grip tightens. he falters slightly, almost as if he's afraid to let go. silently, you follow his lead, allowing him to tuck your interlocked fingerts together next to his side.
"okay," you nod. leon's heart skips a beat when you tighten your grip around his own hand. leon ignores how you stumble slightly when you rise to your feet. your shoes scuff against the floor. "let's go, then."
