So like I want to be a part of this, but could you elaborate on the ship tropes?
[ Hiya nonny! For this event, what we mean by ship tropes are sort of like clichés you find in fiction. Though mostly focused on romantic ships, it can really be any kind of ship!
For example, there’s the well-known trope of two (or more) characters ending up in a hotel room...but there’s only one bed! Hence they have to share it, and a shippy situation is born! Another is something like childhood friends, or pretending to date for a mission, or soulmate AUs! Basically, if it’s a “cliché” or a trope that focuses on the relationship(s) between characters, that’s what we’re aiming for!
The theme of “tropes” is rather vague, but we thought it would give creators a little more freedom and wiggle room to interpret however they wanted, while maintaining an overarching subject matter.
Most tropes are directed or focused on romantic ships, but there’s room for others as well! Platonic, familial, enemies...anything your heart desires! You can do things like found family, adopted siblings, friends to arch enemies...basically if you can categorize it into a well-known plotline in fiction (especially fanfiction), it’ll work for us!
(And honestly even if your plot isn’t 100% a trope, that’s fine. A theme isn’t the end-all be-all of the event. The biggest point is to create and celebrate your ships and have fun!)
I hope that answers your question, let me know if you have any more, and have fun with the ship week, nonny!
