Reinhard entered Subaru's mind using a divine protection he had received exactly one minute ago. In his dream, it was dark, with neat rows of lights above the street. The lights didn't flicker like candles or lanterns, nor were they a warm yellow. Instead, they were a strangely sterile white.

Instead of having gravel for carriages and paved stones for pedestrians, this road had perfectly even squares of white for pedestrians and a perfectly even strip of black, divided by white lines, for carriages.

Subaru was walking with a bag in one hand—the same bag he had when Reinhard first met him. "Subaru," he said evenly. The trap may have messed with his memories; it was designed to keep someone inert, trapped in a dream of their past.

"Sup, dude," Subaru said awkwardly. It was unlikely he remembered him, he even threw in a little wave.

Reinhard smiled, trying not to spook him. “I knew you came from a distant land, yet this landscape is truly surprising,” he said as he walked closer. All he had to do was grab Subaru and activate the return spell, that was, if he could get close enough. Subaru had always had a second sense for people's intentions, especially if they were intentions towards himself.

Subaru only nodded, not really reacting. "Yeah, uh, welcome to Japan." Then, as Reinhard came into the light, his eyes scanned up and down, lingering first on his hair, then his eyes, then the sword still at his hip.

“Are you here to take me to another world in desperate need of a hero?” he bounced a little, excited.

“Yes,” Reinhard smiled, his prediction skills were always truly impressive. “Well, technically to take you back–”

“Let's go,” Subaru said, speaking over Reinhard for a moment.

“I was warned that the spell may have affected your memory, so if you have any questions–”

“Nope, let's do it,” Subaru said, stretching. “Well, actually, what super sick trope do I fall into? Mad powers? Crazy magic weapons? Gun sword? Please tell me I have a gun sword.”

“Gun… sword?” Reinhard repeated, regarding Subaru for a moment. What even was a gun? “Sorry, no. You primarily use a whip.”

Subaru made a face. “Oh, nasty. I don't like, own people, do I?”

With a tilt of his head, Reinhard said, “Slavery has been outlawed for centuries.”

“Perfect, so it'll just be a happy little romp? A silly little fluff series? Slice of life?” Reinhard shrugged; he knew all of those words just not in that order. “What do I have to do?”

Reinhard took his hand.

Back in the real world, Subaru groaned, hands over his face. He sat up, pointing an accusatory finger at Reinhard, "For your information, Rein-rein, this world is not a fluff fest."

"Sorry," he said, standing and offering Subaru a hand up. "I had no clue what you were talking about.”

Okay so as you'll maybe know if I actually have posted smth about it and I'm not schizophrenic, I have watched (and read a little of) Re:Zero. If you want my opinion even though you absolutely did not ask for it it is a great anime, a great story, great characters, great everything if you ask me. Anyways, so today the last episode for the Loss Arc (aka season 4 part 1/1st cour) dropped today, and oh my god it was so fcking majestic I don't care it was definitely the best episode of the season and one of the best of the entire anime. Like, the other day I was saying to a friend that if they stopped the first part at episode 11 it must mean it's gonna be some kind of cliffhanger or something kinda important you know, like they wouldn't do that randomly and oh my was I right. I'm not trying to say I'm goated for saying something so obvious, because I'm not, but like when talking about the actual episode they did well by ending the 1st part there damn. Like, trying not to spoil just in case, we got everything:

Character development for the new Subaru, fights, deaths, crazy Subaru, plot twists (not that many, one could be how Reid is in the same floor as Subaru and the others, and what happened when Subaru blacked, and finally where's Ram and Shaula, which I have a theory I'll probably post about it later or some other day idk) and honestly, great ending for this 1st cour. Also! A new loop. What I mean is that sure, we were already in a loop, but it was like the 1st loop in s1, it's more to make the viewer understand what's happening, instead that here it was for Subaru to understand, so now since Bestrice and Anastasia died, Julius' fighting Reid and Ram and Shaula disappeared, without even mentioning Meili's death, he's probably gonna start the real loop of the season where he starts making plans and actually solving problems about the tower, reaching new floors and waking up Rem, or at least know how to do it, you know.

Also, I do not read the light novel ahead of the episodes so I didn't know what was gonna happen, so the weekly wait (and now until august-september ;-; but anyways) would feel exciting, so that's why I'm only talking about how peak the episode was, and there's also a lot of other people who don't read the novel.

Anyway, just needed to talk about it 'cause why not honestly, oh and yeah, watch Re:Zero, it's goated, trust me.

patiently waiting for arc 5 of re:zero to get animated purely for this scene where the idiot trio gets reunited bcs it had me in tears for a whole 15 minutes

I bought RE:0 (it's on sale!) and within about an hour of gameplay, I've managed:

accidentally skipped the intro cutscene.. three times.

found out I could change costumes and promptly did. (Rebecca's cute as shit srgnjdbgdjesb--)

already started falling for Billy's charm like a dumbass....

upon gaining control of both characters, I immediately spun them both in circles..

got Rebecca stuck in a hole for longer than I should've while I played Inventory Management Simulator™

also wasted most of my bullets on the scorpion, got annoyed, looked it up just so I could get back to the save point before going to bed..
