"Hail! Prithee, who art thou?"
A strange... shipgirl (?) approaches the Re-class battleship in the waters near Hokkaido. Or, well, one must assume she's a ship considering she's underwater but... she's completely unarmed, save for a military-grade combat knife she's holding in her trembling hands, not to mention that her soul feels neither like that of a human or kanmusu.
A woman, positively archaic in both her speech and clothing. A green silk kosode, held by a waistband that looked to be containing a respectable amount of mass behind it. Her face is beautiful, like that of a beautiful lady of yore, and her voice sounds supernaturally melodic and soothing. Totally human-looking, save from the fishy fins in place of her ears, and her fishy half wagging along. Fishy in a literal sense, in the metaphorical sense... she looked equally afraid and confused.
"Ye discolored skin... the dark outfit... O' grace! Thou art kin with Those From the Abyss! Mine sub-marine friends on yon base hath told me to exercise caution with thine fiendish kind! O' I pray to thee, have mercy on my soul, my dame!"
The fishy woman isn't gearing up for any attack of sorts... she's just trembling that knife around while fumfering and slowly retreating away.
"Haaahn?"
Re-class-Rei, as christened by Admiral Nozomi-blinked as the tubby woman hovered just out of reach, purple eyes falling upon the strange features that immediately identified her as 'not human.' Her manner of speaking confused her; very few Abyssals and most of those either the oldest Oni or Hime used this variant of the human language, and certainly not the mishmash ship that floated in front of her unexpected visitor. The Abyssal battleship had been familiarizing herself with the waters around Hokkaido, since they were going to be her new home for the time being as well as the naval base and was currently coasting with her pale white belly to the sun, floating upon her flabby back with her girthy tail deep in the water to act as ballast. Compared to the kind of monster Rei was, the woman cowering with the knife in her chubby hands was an otherworldly beauty. Her gaze lingered for much longer than it should have after her initial surprise, drinking in the pearlescent shine of her piscine features. "...th' hell do ya take me fer? Pretty sure if I went snackin' on the locals, I could kiss my little harbor place goodbye," Rei replied, snorting a little. She swung her tail underneath the surface, rising from her cozy drift and letting her blubber buoy her for the time being. "I mean, they're not wrong, but I just got in the graces of the Admiral, and I ain't ruinin' that gravy train yet. Now...who n' what're ya? Don't think I've ever seen a kinda swimmer like you before..." Approaching slowly, Rei's hand went to playing with her chins in thought(as they did quite frequently nowadays), never realizing her tummy bumped up against her visitor's own corpulent middle. "Ya don't smell like kanmusu...or human. Wait...maybe? Rrrrgh, you're kinda like the Admiral, 'm not smart enough to figure that out..."
