Concept for a Re:Zero au
I’m thinking of making a Soul linked au for Re:Zero. The idea is this; Subaru isn’t the only one who transmigrated to another world. Someone else did too. Like him, they were ‘gifted’ an ability. This one is Clairvoyance. However, they can’t interfere with the timeline in a major way or else they die.
To add on the steaks, every time Subaru dies, they die and die in the same way he does- feelings and all. And if they try to tell Subaru anything about the future directly, they both die at the same time.
Effectively this is an AU where they’re basically playing Pictionary where someone is mute and can’t draw, the other is blind folded and holding a pen. Except one wrong move and everything goes to hell and if the ‘mute’ person say any of the words that are not allowed, they start over in the most painful way possible.
On the bright side, Subaru has someone he can talk to about Return by Death. Downside, that person also suffers the same hell he is and is cursed to basically be Cassandra of Troy minus the ability to even deliver fortunes in a straightforward way
