Reaching Deeper « « « Nishii + Junhyung
After living a life where he was constantly watched over and expected to remain as quiet as a mouse in his own personally crafted cage-like room, there was no way that the brash boy that was Nishii Yukito would let himself sink into a similar situation now that he was left to his freedom. Maybe it sounded a bit too extreme, to call his arrival at the academy "freedom", but that was exactly what it was to the young medium. From here on out, there was no force keeping him shut away in a room for hours and even days on end. No breaking his young skull in attempts to call out to the shrine spirits, and certainly no pressure to start having premonitions on command. This was the life he had been denied for half of his lifetime and he would enjoy it as much as he could, while he could.
Well, that had been the plan anyway. When young Nishii had set out to explore the seemingly endless miles of campus land, he had never even thought of the possibility that he would end up locked in a room. By his own carelessness had he wandered into a building that seemed to house most of the classrooms that were used for instruction of various subjects to the students of this academy. Careless is used here because had he been a bit more conscientious, he would not have peeped into an empty classroom and rather stupidly walked in without placing something on the door's frame to stop the door from swinging on its hinges shut. Of course, only blessed with the most ironic strokes of luck, when the young medium had rushed over to twist the metal-plated doorknob in his hand, it remained solidly in one position, refusing to turn even a millimeter in its gears.
The door was locked. Nishii had managed to get himself locked inside a classroom in his first week at the academy. The thought made the young boy scowl noticeably to himself as he hot-headedly began pulling and tugging at the doorknob, as if his weak amount of arm strength would somehow be enough to tug the door open or force the knob to rotate completely and let him out. There was a fair amount of time spent in this manner; kicking and banging on the door in a rage while obscenities flew from his youthful lips. When the door remained as solid as ever under his furious glare and pulsing fists, the medium allowed himself to sink onto the floor by what he could only assume was a teacher's podium for lecture. At this rate, he would have to sit around and just wait for a teacher who had class to conduct to come along and unlock the blasted door. Wait for someone to let him out... just like he had done back home. Fate seemed to enjoy not allowing Nishii to forget just how he was raised the past 11 years.
