If you rang in the New Year at Reaction NYE, then you were doing it RIGHT!
From Deadmau5 to Skrillex, Run the Jewels to Chance the Rapper, CHVRCHES to Purity Ring, Rezz to Mija, Get Real to Autograf... There was no shortage of amazing talent at Reaction NYE in Rosemont, IL.
Heavy beats thumped through 580,000 square feet of raw warehouse space, and thousands of people came from all over to countdown and party down!
We're breaking down the 2-day NYE celebration with our top 5 favorite sets!
Deadmau5
Why it was awesome: Deadmau5 (Joel Zimmerman) ruled day 1. He killed the first half sans mouse head, tons of classics, and heavy techno. Then, he put it on and killed the second half the same way. Somehow the large, crowded room still felt intimate, and we were one step closer to conquering 2015.
Purity Ring
Why it was awesome: Electronic pop duo Megan James and Corin Roddick commanded the attention of everyone at The Hall, brought the bass... and, DAMN that girl can sing! Purity Ring delivered a totally enchanting set from start to finish-- it was the kind of show you envision every time you hear those songs, forever.
Mija
Why it was awesome: Owsla bae Mija totally slayed her set at The Warehouse with one word... VIBES! Seriously, if you haven't seen Amber Giles bring her magic to the stage, you're missing out on life. The crowd was moving to every beat, and there was a smile on every face! Plus, who doesn't love emoji visuals? 💅
Cashmere Cat
Why it was awesome: This dude knows what's up. And, this dude (Magnus August Høiberg) knows how to play to the crowd. Cashmere Cat mixed filthy hip hop beats with the prettiest of electronic sounds, all while rocking a "Happy New Year" crown and a party blower. He didn't take that thing out of his mouth for the entire set... Badass!
Skrillex
Why it was awesome: Just when you thought Reaction NYE couldn't go any harder, Sonny Moore brought out the highest energy of any set all weekend! It was a full on dance party with the sickest beats, some of the coolest people you've ever met, and, arguably, the most successful DJ of 2015... Simply put: Skrill dropped it HARD!
