My new album is officially out as of today!
'Proxima' is the channeling of my perception of the current conditions we are living in today. The idea that so much is awry with the present state of affairs, yet we as a species continually look elsewhere to try and find a place to exist mentally and even spatially. This is my summation of some of those feelings, moods and events we've collectively encountered over the last year brought to life through sound. Music is a powerful healer. May you find some solace, relation, joy, movement or inspiration through this work. For now this is the only home we've got... let's make it a better place. Peace!!
2016
In no particular order these were my favorite albums of 2016:
A Tribe Called Quest - We Got It From Here... Thank You 4 Your Service
Kendrick Lamar - Untitled Unmastered
AJMW - Unity
Vanilla - Origin
William Tyler - Modern Country
Anderson Paak - Malibu
Kaytranada - 99.9%
Marietta - As It Were
Birocratic - Beets 3
Tourist - U
I mostly just listened to old stuff though. lots of 90s music. golden era hiphop. forgotten rave classics. lots of yacht rock, smooth jazz and other weird nonsense that stimulated my ear drums. Lots of SiriusXM in the whip. A bunch of poppunk and metal at the gym. Lots of sample hunting.
2016 was interesting. lot of sad news, lot of fake news, lot of dumb people on the internet, lot of scary people IRL, too much late capitalism related problems and a ton of confusion. I wrote an album approximating my sentiment musically which will be coming out in February 2017 via Young Heavy Souls Records.
In the meantime, I still kept it productive and dropped 2 releases this last year which I hope you will take time to check them out at the links below:
Vapor Eyes - Invocation
Vapor Eyes - Reminisce EP
Happy New Year to you and yours.
