Can you share your YA Lit reading list? I took a YA Lit course (as well as a Children's Lit course) for my Master's Degree (Library Science), but it was back in 2012, so would be curious to see which titles make the course list four years later. Only if you don't mind sharing, of course! :)
Absolutely! My professor is insanely well-versed in all things YA Lit, speaks at all sorts of conferences and whatnot, so (I hope! (I’m not up-to-date on all things YA Lit anymore)) every book should be a) recent and b) really good!
The Game of Love and Death - Martha Brokenbrough
We Were Here - Matthew De la Peña
The Truth About Alice - Jennifer Mathieu
Sold - Patricia McCormick
Eleanor and Park - Rainbow Rowell
Between Shades of Gray - Ruta Sepetys
Salt to the Sea - Ruta Sepetys
An Ember in the Ashes - Sabaa Tahir
Brown Girl Dreaming - Jaqueline Woodson
And we’ll be put into groups to read one of the following:
The Wrath and the Dawn - Renee Ahdieh
Front Lines - Michael Grant
Illuminae - Amie Kaufmanm and Jay Kristoff
How It Went Down - Kekla Magoon
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children - Ransom Riggs
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe - Benjamin Alire Sáenz
We also, later in the semester, have to choose a YA Lit book to read on our own so I’ll let you all know what I choose then (though I already have four or five in mind) :D
