I instantly click off a reader insert if the character has a name. Idc about the justification if the reader is called some random name the entire fic I’m not interested.

Some reader insert opinions I have!!
I don’t think reader insert authors should be shamed if they don’t write for a specific gender.
Either way, be it someone that only wants to write for fem!readers, gender neutral!readers, or male!readers. I think you should stick to what makes you comfortable.
Branching out is good and encouraged, but if you just want to stick to a specific gender of reader because that’s how you like to write or is more enjoyable for you, then do that!!
As long as you tag things correctly, then you’re all good!
I also believe there’s nothing wrong with giving the reader a basic appearance. Describing them as being pale or having curly hair or being thin is fine, but don’t just surprise your readers with it halfway through the fic. Make sure to say that the reader is pale.
Black writers include that the reader is black in the tags or title, I think it’s completely fair for white writers to man up and say who they’re writing for. If you’re going to have the reader be a certain way, SAY SO! Say that reader is pale or white. It’s unfair for black/dark skinned readers to read a fic only to be pulled out of it because the reader is described to be pale.
If you can’t say that, then be more inclusive when mentioning skin tone. It’s as easy as including some like “her (s/c) skin” instead of “her pale skin”.
Another opinion I have is that blocking others should be way more common. If you don’t like people’s writing, block them instead of being rude or hateful.
They write something you personally find disgusting? Block them! They posted a fic that’s out of character? Block them! You don’t like their pfp? Block them! Your blog is your safespace, you don’t have to interact with people that make you uncomfortable. You curate your online experience.
Reader Insert writers: try to remember that people with other hair textures exist when you’re writing. I know some people with textured hair must cringe heavily when they read about a character running their fingers through their hair, or describing the hair as long and silky.
I LIKE my hair being played with, so a way I’ve found to be more inclusive while still writing a scene where readers hair is being played with, is to the say the character ran their hand/fingers OVER the Reader’s hair.
Feel free to add on some things you would like to see in fics :3 could be about hair texture, or other things!
PSA TO X READER WRITERS...
i get it. i've written x reader stuff before. but like
can we... as a people agree to use one unified tag for it like? like 'x reader' as a general unifying tag for it all?
i don't want to see it when i'm not looking for it specifically and i seriously Can Not block every single (character) x reader tag that's out there so like
can we pretty please all do this?
I don’t know what this says about me,
but this is the first thing Wattpad recommends me after not using it for a while. I don’t think I’ve ever looked up a story about furries on Wattpad either.
I’m so confused...
