Hi! First off, im glad you enjoy my writing. I am always happy to see people interested in it.
Secondly, and this is where it gets harder. Many writers, myself included, find it disrespectful when someone asks for an update. We write this stuff for free, so people asking us to update feels a little like someone asking for extra Halloween candy, if that makes sense. Asking for an update on something is likely to have the opposite of the intended effect.
I know you weren't intending the question that way, so I wanted to explain how it came across. I love interacting with readers and talking about my stories. Talking about them with readers can often help me figure out where the plot is going and what to write next. Instead of asking for an update, try something like:
Saying what you like about a character
Accusing me of being a horrible monster about the way I treat my characters (with love, of course ❤)
Talking about a specific scene or piece of dialog that really resonated with you
Guessing what's going to happen next
Asking about a character's backstory
Asking about the relationship between characters and how that might develop
Talk like that is author catnip, and helps get the creative juices flowing on top of just having a fun conversation with a reader.
I can't promise when an update is going to come. I've been unwell, so I haven't been working on any of my stories. All I can promise is that I haven't forgotten or abandoned this story, and I will update it. I just don't know when.
