Chapter 1 - Togame Jo x reader
You were sitting at the front desk, typing away. The clinic is quiet and the air control is blowing loudly. The glass door slides open and a young man, wearing a yellow jacket and sunglasses walks in.
“Hey there! Is Doctor Tachibana busy right now?” the young man pushes his sunglasses over his head.
You look up from your screen and make eye contact with his emerald eyes. You didn't say a word at first since you were charmed by his looks.
“...they look like pretty gemstones” you pause and realize what you said to the young man. The two of you blush at this moment.
“Thank you…but erm can you answer my question?” The young man still blushing rubs the back of his head with one arm.
“OH..” you grasped.
A short grey hair man in a white coat walks out to the front office.
“Togame-kun! I'm glad you stopped by the clinic today. I know you must be very busy preparing for the summer festival. But like I said a young man like yourself should get checked out at least once a year.” The old doctor walks up to Togame and pats him on the back. He looks at him and then at you.
“I guess you finally met my granddaughter. She's volunteering to help out during the summer till she goes back to tokyo” the old man smile.
“I see, you both know each other?” You look at Togame and back at your grandfather.
“This young man is at the bathhouse all the time when I go. He's also the reason why I come home late. He's a really good go-player” the old man chuckles out loud.
“Enough chit chat out here, let's meet in the back office so that we can go over the physical exam!” The old man shuffles Togame to the back.
“Wait, Grandpa, I still need to check him into our system!” You stand up and follow them both to the back office.
“Relax sweetie, he can just fill in the paperwork once he's done with the physical exam. It's not gonna take that long.” Your grandfather grabs a stethoscope and rest it behind his neck. He sits on the chair.
Togame sits on the medical exam table.
“let me just type his information in as you do the exam” you pull up the mobile computer workstation and begin typing.
“Well you can't be in the exam room as it's a patient and doctor examination. Last time I checked you were volunteering. But I can let you take his blood pressure and information right now. I need to go and prepare if he needs any vaccines”. Your grandfather winks at Togame and leaves the room.
Togame smirks and looks at you.
“Your grandfather really likes to talk a lot for an old man. Oh I didn't get your name by the way” he sits up and adjust himself.
“My name is Y/N. Thanks for being patient with him. He probably harassed you to come and visit” you begin signing into the patient portal and pull up a new chart for Togame.
“Haha he's not that bad, so what brings you into this small town?”
“Well, volunteering looks good on a resume and I wanna be a doctor in the future. Oh what's your name by the way?” You click on patient info tab.
“You're a pretty smart girl, doing this young and my name is Togame Jo”. He smiles at you.
You blush from his comment and type his name into the system. You move onto a personal questions list.
“I'm gonna ask you some questions now, it's part of the physical exam. So you can answer with a yes or no so it would be faster” you glance over to him and make eye contact.
“Wow, this feels like a speed dating scenario. Go ahead and ask away” He smirks.
“okay first question, do you smoke?” you hover the mouse over “no” button.
“I get mistaken for being older than I am, but no”
You click on the no button. You look at the next question.
“Do you drink or use any form of drugs?” You once again hover over “no” button.
“I mean are you asking me out on a date? Cause I would say Yes. But it looks like we're both under the legal age of drinking so no.” Togame folds his sunglasses and puts them in his Jacket.
“I take that as a no, also you didn't respond to the drugs question? I can't assume for you” you said sarcastically.
“Touche, I do go on.” He smiles.
“So no indeed, next question. Are you sexually active? “ you slightly blush and avoid eye contact.
“not anymore if you were wondering”
You click on the no button. Your ears get red.
“do you exercise?” You hover over the “Yes” button.
“I do, a bit of kendo here and there. I'm willing to take on an apprentice if you're interested? “ he takes off his jacket.
“I will reach out when I'm interested. Next question, how are you feeling lately? Any depression? you said sarcastically.
“A little sad since I got turned down, but I will recover.” Togame smiles and scratches the back of his head.
Your grandfather walks back in pushing a tray with vaccines.
“Okay love birds, let's get this examination rolling” your grandfather bellows out to you both.
You blush really hard. Togame chuckles to himself.
“it's nothing like that” you yell at your grandfather.
“Well if you're done with the questions. Let me start with the physical exam. You can talk more with him when he's done. Now shoo out of the room.” He waves his hand to tell you to leave.
"Wait I haven't taken his blood pressure readings yet" you walk over to the blood pressure monitor, only to be stopped by your grandfather.
"You're taking too long. I'm going to do it since I'm faster...also Togame take off your shirt. Let me see that wound of yours" your grandfather ushers you out of the way.
You collect yourself and leave the room. As you leave the room Togame takes his shirt off. You get a glimpse of his abs. The door shuts and you stand out the door blushing hard. You fan yourself to calm down. Then run to the front desk.
Twenty minutes goes by. Togame and your grandfather walk out together laughing and talking.
“Please stop by when you have a chance Togame-kun. I would love to talk to you again” your grandfather chuckles and waves.
“Well you will see me at the bathhouse tonight anyways” Togame looks at your grandfather and turns to you.
“Or I might stop by tomorrow as well? Who knows?” Togame winks at you and waves goodbye.
You blush super hard. Your grandfather looks over your shoulder.
“I see you are slightly interested” your grandfather smirks.
You fell off the chair and get back up. Fixing Yourself to look presentable.
“You can't be meddling in my love life. I'm also here to volunteer not look for love.” You blush hard and began opening up random icons on the computer pretending to be busy.
“You say that, but you didn't finish adding his date of birth and the rest of his information. let me ask him to come back tomorrow so that you can finish this” Your grandfather moves closer to the screen, pushing his glasses to the monitor trying to read.
Another patient walks into the clinic and you hide the Patient portal of Togame. You and your grandfather greet them with a warm smile.
Next Day rolls around. You're walking back from the grocery store with items in a plastic bag. You see the young man again, standing outside the clinic. He's fixing his bangs and adjusting his sunglasses. He turns and sees you and waves.
You're surprised at first but walk quickly towards him.
“I see you're back! You know you don't have to listen to my grandpa.” You catch your breath as you stare into his eyes.
“Well then, I assume you know my date of birth and my height then? “ he nervously reaches an arm to the back of his head.
“OH right, I didn't get your information on that or how to contact you to schedule your next appointment” you scratch your face.
Togame takes the grocery bags out of your hands and walks into the clinic. You tug on the handle of the bag.
“I can't let a pretty doll like you carry these heavy bags. It isn't gentleman like”. He smiles and then swings the bags over his shoulders and walks in.
You blush very hard and then walk quickly after him.
“Let me grab the paperwork and clipboard for you to fill out. I'm kinda scatter brained at the moment since I'm back from my lunch break.” You grabbed a pen and the clipboard and shove it in front of Togame.
He gently places the grocery bag on the ground and sits in the patient waiting room.
“OH did i catch you at a bad time right now?” He begins writing on the Clipboard.
You walk over and grab the grocery bags and place it behind the front desk.
“No, not really. Today isn't a busy day right now since it's a Saturday. Everyone tends to come during the weekday and when it's not as Hot”. You look at Togame and you sit down at your desk.
“So would you say you won't be busy after your shift ends?” Togame still writing on the clipboard and not looking up.
“It depends on the doctor. He says we close early, we close, he says we stay open late, we stay late.” You stare at Togame as he writes.
“Then would you like to go to the summer festival together?” He finishes writing and gets up and walks towards you.
“Wait what? as a date or?” You stutter your words.
“It could be anything you want it to be. My phone number is written down on this paperwork so you can call me. I will be working at one of the stalls tonight but I think the boss wouldn't mind me if I take a break for pretty doll like you.” He smirks and places the clipboard on the front desk.
“I…I will let you know when I get off my shift tonight.” You take the clipboard while avoiding eye contact, trying not to show how red your face is.
He looks at the clock and back at you.
“By the way, I prefer calling over texting. I kinda suck at responding over text. “ he gestures a phone in his hands then leaves the clinic waving back at You.
You sit there in shock. Fanning your face to calm your beet red cheeks.
It's 5pm and you're closing up the clinic. Your grandfather locks the glass doors as you shut off the clinic lights.
“The summer festival is happening tonight. You should go.” Your grandfather is sweeping the clinic floors.
“But I gotta study for cram school and do other things.” You shove the Plastic covers that cover that exam patient chairs into the trash can and took out the trash.
“You know this is your summer holiday as well. You can't be just studying all the time. Your youth would fly so fast and you will never get it back”. Your grandfather places his Hands behind his Back and walks towards you.
“Plus someone special said he would be there~~”
“Okay, it's nothing like that…but maybe I should go to the festivals to do some research…you know? See the town and see the people” you twindle your fingers as you wait for your grandfather to go up the stairs.
“Well we're closed tomorrow. So do whatever you would like” your grandfather shuts the door of the clinic. You both walk upstairs to the second floor. It was renovated so that you, your grandfather can live on the top floor of the clinic.
“I would tag along if it makes you feel better” your grandfather brews some hot water.
“Well if you're going then I will go” you smile at your grandfather.
Your grandfather smiles at You and then looks at the clock.
“You should get dressed” he pours the hot water into a cup and drops some tea leaves.
You immediately run into Your bedroom to get ready. You whip out phone and take photos of yourself. Grabbing the many dresses you have in your closet. You pause and you look at your phone again. You saved Togame's phone number under the name of “turtle boy”. You hesitate but replay your conversation with Togame earlier today. Your hands hover over the call button.
A knock On the door startles you and your thumb hits the call button. Your grandfather calls out.
“we should leave in 5 mins! let's beat the crowds by getting there early” the door muffles this Loud voice.
“OKAY I HEARD” you yell at the door. The call goes through and you hear Togame on the other end. You stutter your words.
“OH hey, i didn't mean to call you this late, I hope… this isn't a bad time for you” you grabbed your phone with two hands trying not to drop the phone.
There was silence at first but you hear his Voice.
“Is this Y/N?” Togame's voice on the other end.
“Yes..yes it is.ya you know the girl from the clinic…you know the one that had to take your information and you wrote down your phone number for me…I meant for the clinic…cause you know so that I could call you if I need you back…I mean back at the clinic..” you ramble and Stutter over your words like a shy child.
“I remember. So did you need anything?” Togame voice in a puzzling tone. You can hear the sounds of sizzling in the background of the call and the voices of people ordering food.
“OH I just wanted to let you know that I will be going to the summer festival tonight. I'm not going alone because my grandpa is coming but I wanted to let you know that I'm going” you slap your forehead cause you realized you repeated yourself twice on call. You're total mess over the phone.
“That's good news. So I will see you tonight for sure?” Togame's voice has excitements.
“yes, i would love you... see you…I MEANT.. I can see you tonight.” Your face becomes blushing red.
“OH slow your roll girl. I'm not going anywhere any time soon… Meet me at food stall #003 and call me when you get here!” Togame voice sounded rush.
“Sounds like a plan. I could do that”
“Perfect, i gotta get going the stall needs my help so I will take my break when you get here. So talk to you soon…”Togame Hangs up abruptly.
You look at your phone and realized he ended the call. You look puzzled. You then see a notification from him.
A text saying “Sorry, I didn't want to end our conversation this fast. But my boss needed me. I can't wait to see you though. [Insert heart emoji at the End of the text] .
You re-read the last part of the text again. Your heart is fluttering from his words. You close your phone and run out of the room, meeting your grandfather downstairs heading out to the festival.
