Additional Comments: This is a prequel to the fandom classic Infinite Coffee and Protection Detail, a prequel set in World War II. If you want to get to know who grumpy!Bucky from Protection Detail was when he still was Sergeant Bucky Barnes, here is a fic/podfic from his point of view, recounting one adventure of him, Steve and the Howling Commandos. Bucky’s voice is wonderfully sassy; the fic is WWII humor at its best. To me, this prequel feels like a deleted scene from CA: The First Avenger. @avidreaderlady does a brilliant job with Bucky’s voice; she gets the sass right and Bucky’s frustration with suddenly-big Steve, also the more subtle undertones in Bucky’s voice after Azzano. This is the only podfic of “Truth, Justice, and the Cheating Cheater Way” (that I know of). But three people have now recorded podfics in this ‘verse, and with such well-loved and well-known fics/podfics it is a challenge to bring something new and unique to the reading. @avidreaderlady‘s take on the ‘verse is different but just as engaged and professional as the others. I fell in love with Peggy’s British accent all over again. I love Dernier’s smoothly delivered French cursing. All the sass is read so matter-of-factly that I challenge you not to laugh. Do listen to this podfic – it’s such a treat.
