1. What book do you think impacted you the most and why?
This is really tough. It would probably be Tamora Pierce's First Test. The entire Keladry series has always been really moving and impactful for me but that very first one just demonstrates her determination and how we can be good people even when others try to bring us down.
2. Favorite childhood book:
Ugh ask all the hard ones why don't you....um...Dealing with Dragons by Patricia C. Wrede because it was one of the ones that I reread at least once a year and still do and can still relate to and enjoy in a way that hasn't changed as much as the way i enjoy some of my other books.
3. Who inspired you to read?
My mom tells me that even when I was really little, like just started talking, she would tell me stories at bedtime, making them up and forgetting them as she went and the next night I'd ask to hear that exact same story and be able to tell it back to her. My mom always read with me and listened as I told my own stories or recounted those I read and always helped me find books to help me get through anything that I was going through.
4. What book are you looking forward to most in 2014?
There are a lot of new books that I really want to read. There are 2 that I plan on reading in the very very near future that I'm excited about: I Lived on Butterfly Hill and Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. I'm also really excited about Tamora Pierce's upcoming Exile (she posted yesterday that she finished the rough draft!!!) and Rick Riordan's The Blood of Olympus.
5. Best book to movie adaptation in your opinion?
The one that I have seen most recently that I really enjoyed both the book and the movie was To Kill a Mockingbird. It was a classic and done very well. Plus there was some really cool bonding with my parents over the book and the movie and this Harper Lee documentary we watched together, all in about 2 days.
