Anyway this is special education.
Day 1: Child who is medically fragile is feeling great and is laughing/joking with everyone in class.
Day 2: That child tanks in the middle of the night and is rushed to the hospital, no one really knows what’s going on but we try our best to just keep going.
Day 3: SAME MEDICALLY FRAGILE STUDENT is put on a disciplinary list for “chronic absenteeism” by the principal, and is requested to attend Saturday school. Teacher refuses to acknowledge the list or send the notice to the mother who is still dealing with having her child in the hospital. Teacher is reprimanded by the principal for not being a ‘team player.’
Day 3, evening: All students, teachers, and families receive automated messages forbidding them to send in kids who may have the flu. Apparently SOMEONE in this district cares about sick kids staying home, that just doesn’t apply to our chronically ill kids. They don’t count.
