Dyslexia presents distinct challenges for very student. However, it is common for children to avoid situations where they are expected to read aloud. Research shows that dyslexic individuals utilize different neural pathways when reading compared to the non-dyslexic students and this is what causes the less efficient reading process.

Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

90% of the time I read in bed or the couch, but other prime locations include my patio or the couch in my guest room

Do you use bookmarks? If so, what kind?

Usually torn up bits of paper, but I mostly read from my kindle and don’t use any digital bookmarks

Can you stop reading or do you need to get to the end of a chapter?

End of the chapter, unless a) I get interrupted or b) I start falling asleep

Do you eat or drink while reading?

Usually read (on my kindle) while eating my lunch and dinner (mostly fic, usually on my computer)

Music or TV while reading?

I can have mindless TV if reading fic, but would prefer quiet most of the time

One book at a time or multiple?

At most, I will have 1 non-fiction, 1 novel, and 1 fic in progress at once

Reading at home or while out?

Yes

Reading silently or out loud?

I’m terrible at reading out loud

Do you ever read ahead or skip pages?

Only if I’m rereading

天津社科院社會學研究所所長張寶義認為，人們不是不閱讀，是閱讀的方式在變。從紙質書變成電子書、微博、微信。但這樣的問題是，只能獲取大量碎片化的信息，要領略經典著作深刻的美，需要時間和耐心。
