I just started reading this danmei someone recommended on Reddit and fell in love with it, it might actually become one of my favorites. Crosses two things I love to read about (danmei, of course, and aviation) in an excellent and mature, but most importantly realistic manner!

I have an enduring obsession with aviation, despite hating to fly in planes myself. I just find the engineering and the sheer amount of behind the scenes work to be incredibly interesting.

The story is Descent from an altitude of 10,000 meters (从万米高空降临). The main characters are a pilot and an air traffic controller. Both incredibly high pressure jobs I’d never be able to do in a million years!

The author and translator really did their research, all of the explanations of aviation terms are clear, and the characters are all very human and flawed, but their interpersonal relationships with their coworkers and family also deserve a special mention. These are people dedicated to their careers, but who are human with worries and fears like anyone else. I like that the MC and ML have lives and friends outside of each other, too, and we spend time exploring each of them before they start hitting it off.

If anyone else out there has a special interest or curiosity about the aviation industry, really check this one out. It’s great.
