I will admit that I have started at least 6 of these throughout the year and just haven't finished them. But I am determined to finish them!

Reading Rush 2019 TBR

This is my first read-along? Read-athon? I don’t know what they’re called but I’m doing them! A lot of these books are books I own but haven’t read yet or have been on my TBR for a long time so I’m super excited about that. I’ve also been rereading a lot of books this year so far and I really want to read new ones so hopefully with this challenge, I can read new books.

1/ Read a book with purple on the cover - When We Collided by Emery Lord

The blurb is written in purple so it counts. I’ve been meaning to get to this book since the year has started because I was already planning to reread a lot of old favorites to see if I still liked them and this was one of the books.

2/ Read a book in the same spot the entire time - The Last of August by Brittany Cavallaro

I already read a lot of books in the same spot (my bed) so this isn’t really a challenge for me. Anyways, I just finished A Study in Charlotte (which I absolutely loved) and I’m itching to get to the second book.

3/ Read a book you meant to read last year - Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi

I made a Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag last year and I put this as one to read but I never got to it because I just wasn’t in the mood. This year though, I am ready to delve into this book.

4/ Read an author’s first book - The First Time She Drowned by Kerry Kletter

I’m pretty sure this is Kerry Kletter’s first (and only?) book. This book is also a part of the list of books I wanted to reread this year. I read this last year and loved it and I want to see if I still do.

5/ Read a book with a non-human main character - Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

I get into different moods where I want to read this but am always so overwhelmed with other things that I just can’t because this book is thick. Over 500 pages. But everyone raves about it and I want to as well. Also I’m no stranger to reading big books, but I don’t like that it takes me forever to finish them. I did read a few chapters before forgetting about it but this time I won’t.

6/ Pick a book that has five or more words in the title - I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson

I’m pretty excited about this one because I’ve heard that it is a sad contemporary and those are my favorite kind of reads.

7/ Read and watch a book to movie adaptation - Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K Rowling

This might be an easy way out for most people, but I have never read or watched anything Harry Potter. I’ve just never been interested but I’m beginning to start to want to delve into that world because everyone loves it so much. Maybe this will be my leap into the series.

The Reading Rush TBR

The reading Rush challenge is here. And I want to participate. I love the fact that it is at the end of the month. it's perfect to motivate me to stay at home and read. I will not go outside, spend money I don't have 😂💶💸

Consequently, this is my TBR. Let's be honest. I'm not a huge fan with the concept of TBR because I love to pick a book when I've just finished one. Take the time to analyze my mood and try to find the ideal book to associate with my current state of mind. But for one week I'll try to prioritize books I really want to read before the end of the summer. I have this little challenge with myself : read all the recipients of the most prestigious French language literary award, the prix Goncourt.

To be honest just the awarning authors since 2000. 19 books to be exact (logic :D). I already read some of them. I need to keep going. I have until the end of this year - I enjoy to be sadic with my own self ! - the reading rush is the opportunity to be back on track.

You need to read 7 books during one week - 1 book per day. I will just pick 6 because some of them are so long. Let’s be realistic here ! It’s the first time I will try to do that, stay at home and try to read as mush as I can for 1 week. It’s extremely intimidating. And at the same time, I’m euphoric to have this chance to read during one entire week.  Therefore, let’s go with this ambitous TBR.

I hope I will succeed and finish, minimum 3 of them. Yes, I’m too enthousiast right now.

According to my 2019 reading challenge, I am one book behind my schedule. I didn’t really read much in February, so I’m playing catch up in March. 

So far I’m in the middle of reading The Stone Sky by N. K. Jemisin and The Rising Gold by Ava Jae. I hope to complete these books in March:

Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison

Kushiel’s Dart by Jacqueline Carey

A Closed and Common Orbit by Becky Chambers

Record of a Spaceborn Few by Becky Chambers

My main focus, however, is probably going to be Chambers’ series after I complete Jemisin and Jae’s works.

I only got through one book for my challenge last month, mainly because I had started reading and re-reading other things. Plus, library books come before physical TBR. However, after I’m done with these library books, I’m going to focus on my physical TBR until the end of the year...which is roughly at ~50 books. The goal is to get that down to 35 books.
