I really don’t like this book

In the 30 pages I’ve read today nothing of importance has happened. It feels like a waste of time to read about the characters walking around the market, stopping for food for 3 pages, then they walk around AGAIN for several more pages and remind us for the 3rd time *in this book alone* what the Cold Peace is.

What’s the point of having Jace, Clary, Izzy, and Simon here? It’s not like they’re doing anything? Besides providing moments for Clare to shoehorn in shitty banter.

It’s taking all my energy to not skip to the end and just read the ending

the entire series is called “The Eldest Curses” and the explanation for it came in one sentence and then the conversation moved on. Please tell me they’ll talk about this again later

Also this book takes place in Shanghai and every Chinese character can speak perfect English conveniently

reading book!alec and magnus is so weird because i’m so used to show!alec and magnus. like, they’re such different characters that i almost can’t picture matt daddario and harry shum jr while i read the books

also I am starting to have the same critique of this book that I did for qoaad: does clare still have an editor or is she too much of a big name now for people to tell her “this section right here can be cut out” because this is happening a lot in her books lately
