I never gave an update for my reading challenge and I need to update the tracker on my blog, but, as of today, I've read 61 books this year. 😄
February Reading Update
For February, I read 15 books.
12 were mangas / comics.
1 was a graphic novel.
2 were novels.
I'd yell at myself for not reading more novels, but honestly, it's not that big of a deal. Sometimes my brain wants less words and more pretty pictures and clearly depicted scenes without wasting time trying to visualize stuff.
Let's see how many books I read for March. I should dig into my Humble Bundle collections. I know I have a bunch of digital books there.
I haven't read classic literature since college. I keep saying I'm going to read a classic and then I just don't. Well I remembered the high quality Serial Reader app (on Apple and Android btw), and now I've introduced friends to it. Time to power through Sleepy Hollow, one chapter a day.
January 2026 Recap
4 games beaten with 3 100%ed
3 books read / 2 DNFed
1 podcast / audio drama finished
2 films watched
16k words written + 15 day writing streak
Strange Buildings has dropped. Let's gooo!
January Recap
The first month of the year has finally ended. I have successfully survived the coldest part of the Chicago winter. Let's see what I've been up to.
In January, I:
Beat 4 video games and 100%-ed 3 of them. No change from the mid-month recap. I’ve been bouncing around games as updates and new games have dropped. I’m currently locked in on Cult of the Lamb and Code Vein 2.
Finished 3 books. I finished All These Sunken Souls earlier in the month. I finally got around to buying and reading Let Me In Your Window by Adam Ellis and I read Midnight Timetable by Bora Chung.
Finished 1 book from my backlist. All These Sunken Souls had been in my backlist for a couple years. I’m glad I was finally able to finish it.
DNFed 2 books. They’re not worth mentioning. They’re the same two from the mid-month recap.
Finished 1 audio drama. I started listening to Black Friday by Realm before the new year and finally got around to finishing it.
Watched 2 films. I got to see Iron Lung and man, that was a good ass movie. I also watched a trippy short film on YouTube titled Lemon-Aid. That was an experience.
Wrote 16k words and have a 15 day streak going.
Restarted my Apothecaria play.
Goals for February
Launch my personal site. This was my end of the month goal for January, but I didn’t have time to launch the site, and I keep going back and forth on the design. I need to get out of my own head.
Continue my ongoing writing streak.
Read 4 books by black authors in honor of Black History Month.
Settle on a movie, play, or orchestra performance for February.
Finish 1 game in February.
Finish 1 audio drama in February.
Start 1 television show in February.
Mid January Recap
Welcome to the first recap of the year! I meant to do a weekly recap, but I wasn’t feeling great last weekend, so I’m giving myself some grace and combining the last couple weeks. I might just do this instead of a weekly recap!
So far this month, I’ve:
Beaten 4 games and completed 3 of those.
Finished All These Sunken Souls horror anthology
DNFed Alpha Woman and The Reincarnator and the Goblin Maiden's Happily Ever After
Preordered tickets to see Iron Lung in theaters.
Started reading Midnight Timetable
Wrote 6.2k words and had an 8 day writing streak
Goals for the rest of the month:
Launch my personal site on Nekowebs
Achieve a 14 day writing streak
Finish Midnight Timetable
Figure out my February movie or go to an orchestral concert.
Actually go see Iron Lung.
