can we talk about how this is one of the best quotes in the Murderbot series?? bc I think it shows what all the sci-fi shows — star trek, star wars, doctor who — get wrong about depictions of non-humans. why do we assume that "being human" is the epitome of existence, such that all beings MUST want to be us (because how could they possibly want to be anything else?)?
Murderbot dares to ask: what if being not-a-human was just as worthy and valid as being a human?? would we treat them the same way? respect their personhood? could we even imagine that they wouldn't want to be just like us??
