Book No. 3 for the @palatinelibrary Summer Reading Program: Anthony Horowitz's first James Bond novel, "Trigger Mortis," was terrific, so I was thrilled to learn he was writing another. I was a little less thrilled when "Forever and a Day" was billed as a prequel to "Casino Royale," but so far this isn't the James Bond origin story I feared it would be. (Ordinarily I don't pick a summer reading book I can't check out of the library, but "Forever and a Day" won't be published in America until November, and I don't want to wait that long until the library stocks it.) #readingtakesyoueverywhere #jamesbond #ianfleming #anthonyhorowitz #spyfiction (at Palatine Public Library)

Book No. 2 for my @palatinelibrary Summer Reading Challenge: So I say to myself, "Hey, I haven't read the latest Elvis Cole book yet. That's pretty deficient of me." Elvis has been sharing his adventures with a lot of other characters in recent years, so I'm glad to see @robertcrais put the glib detective back at the center again. I'm really breezing through this book, which is a relief after struggling through "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" (sorry, M. Starting my @palatinelibrary Summer Reading Challenge with this classic. I took a crack at this in sixth grade but didn't get far. Perhaps because the first sentence contains the word "signalized." I decided to try again because I need to read more "great" books and because Verne was an influence on Ian Fleming. It is easy to see that Dr. No descended from Capt.
