I just went down a rabbit hole of new (to me) language learning resources since I’ve been away from the community for some time and holy shit there are some really cool things?? This app/site Clozemaster seems pretty helpful; you fill in a word in a sentence, each language seems to have 10k+ sentences, but I guess it’s better to know the basics in a language before doing this (I can get by in Polish on there rn basically from knowing Russian and Ukrainian lmfao but otherwise I would have no clue on most of the words). I also found Readlang, which would be pretty helpful when trying to read an e-book bc you can see the translation right there on the page (I was basically doing this for Russian; downloading pdfs of books and highlighting words I didn’t know and then looking them up lmfao fuck). Technology is amazing sometimes

19/5/21 - i literally haven't translated smt in italian for a year, just been focusing on french in the pandemic mostly, but italy's 2021 eurovision song Zitti E Buoni by Måneskin has been stuck in my head and it's such a gooood song, so I used that motivation to put it on readlang to translate it today, and now I like the song even better and maybe I can sing along during the eurovision final on Saturday now 👀👀

23/5/21 - i'm quite delirious and excited today from the eurovision finale last night and italy winning when I was rooting for them so hard all week, so I tried to use the energy to do some italian study by finishing translating maneskin's cover of vengo dalla luna as the chorus has been stuck in my head! I already did zitti e buoni a few days ago aha

9/6/21 - today I finally translated 'Mon Refuge' on readlang as I've heard it a few times on French and French Canadian radio stations, it's such a pandemic mood and bop! Then I put the new vocab on anki. I also asked two French questions on HiNative

3/7/21 - translating a really cool sounding french song! When I uploaded it readlang said it was A2, and I only needed to translate like 5 words out of 320, so that feels p good 🤙🏻

After loading some BBC articles into Readlang, I found out that it warns you when your library is getting too big lol

If you’re trying to learn a bunch of vocab I can’t recommend readlang.com enough. It's an extension that lets you click on any word on a webpage and defines it for you right there and also automatically saves it (including the sentence it was in) so you can go back to the site to study the words you didn’t know later. It saves you from going back and forth between whatever you’re reading and a dictionary so you can read entire articles in the language you’re learning in a reasonable amount of time even if you don’t know much
