September is National Preparedness Month (NPM). Each year the White House issues a National Preparedness Month Presidential Proclamation reaffirming the nation’s commitment to readiness and to encourage Americans to learn what they can do to prepare their families and communities before a disaster happens.

NPM Tip 10 - Preparedness on a budget: Pick up canned items on sale 2 or 3 at a time. Shop at used goods stores for blankets and electronics #GETREADYLA

NPM Tip 28 - After an emergency, once you know you are safe, check on a neighbor.
NPM Tip 29 – Prepare and support your community before and after disasters by volunteering with local organizations like your Neighborhood Council or the local American Red Cross.
NPM Tip 30 - Do you know what to do when an earthquakes occurs? Drop to ground or floor. Cover your head and neck under a sturdy table or desk. Hold On to your shelter until the shaking stops. Remember Drop, cover and hold on.
