Listo!
Not sure who wrote this, but it’s deep:
”Every minute someone leaves this world behind. We are all in “the line” without knowing it. We never know how many people are before us.
We can not move to the back of the line.
We can not step out of the line.
We can not avoid the line.
So while we wait in line -
Make moments count.
Make priorities.
Make the time.
Make your gifts known.
Make a nobody feel like a somebody.
Make your voice heard.
Make the small things big.
Make someone smile.
Make the change.
Make love.
Make up.
Make peace.
Make sure to tell your people they are loved.
Make sure to have no regrets.
Make sure you are ready.”

once jason had commenced his new role of agent within SHIELD, he knew that it would be beyond anything he’s ever experienced before. and he was absolutely correct. the organisation dealt with more than the run-of-the-mill baddies the FBI or police might encounter. secret government plots and people with honest to god DOOMSDAY plans that would make any sane person’s heart give out from the sheer stress and pressure. but it was thrilling and jason loved being in the thick of it. once he had a taste for field missions, especially espionage missions, there was no holding him back. he split his time evenly between field missions and his handler duties, which he actually enjoyed because that meant he could put names to faces he’s seen.
jason had only been the handler for STRIKE for a good few weeks now, running ops for several teams and getting to know everyone. he never met most of them in person, but that’s about to change. a recent mission went sideways and the enemy base that jason told the team explicitly to leave it intact was blown up by them. so, jason tracks their ETA and fumes silently over the next three hours while he runs other assignments before leaving his station and blazing his way through to where STRIKE’s alpha team were stripping off their tactical gear. he hears them before he could see them. laughing and joking as he rounds the corner and stands by the open door. his eyes scan the room and spots commander brock rumlow speaking to his second in command. he clears his throat, catching the attention of everyone.
❛ commander rumlow. we need to talk. ❜
he’s furious at what happened, fuelled only by one of the agents calling him a tight-ass and ignoring his spluttering. he walks through the group, standing in front of the commander with his hands on his hips, eyes blazing as his lips purse in annoyance.
❛ i ordered you and your team to leave the base ALONE. care to explain why it’s currently a pile of rubble and smoke ? ❜

“i’m shocked,” jc snorts sarcastically, gathering the files from the desk before joining the older man out on the balcony, sorting them into a neat stack. he knows how to prioritise his boss’ work, some people and things are simply not allowed to be worked on until after there’s been time for several cups of coffee. “well, at least you’re keeping it outside this time. you’re not as sneaky as you think you are, trying to get a smoke in while still in the office.”
fighting back a yawn, he leans his hip against the balcony railing and looks over at the older man. “i’ve got nowhere to be tonight, so if there’s more you need me to do, just tell me.”

When Pietro was ... gone, it had left a hole in Wanda. She'd done her best to hide that, to pretend that everything was fine, but even the little things could be devastating. It was hard, hard to be there when he wasn't. Harder still to be around people who did not seem to understand her. Not like Pietro. Few people had known her, had cared for her like her brother, and sure Stark and the rest were trying, but they were also so trying.
She wasn't even sure what had prompted her escape. One moment she was in their stupid tower, and the next she was out. Out in the streets in the rain, searching. Searching for someone, she was almost there before she realized who it was. Rumlow. The only one to show her kindness during the experiments. He had been so kind, to her and to Pietro. He had known them. If only for a little while. Perhaps he would understand.
And so it was that she arrived on his doorstep, soaked to the bone, and rang the bell. Hoping for the smallest of comforts, from someone she wasn't even sure would remember her name.
