We’re a pasta loving family and Barilla is one of our top brands picks. Honestly I by passed the new Ready Pasta on the grocery shelves a few times , always thinking it was a boil in pouch option.
Last week we got a chance to try the Ready Pouch. The preparation is very simple - open the pouch at the top and microwave in the bag for 60 seconds. Then add whatever sauce you like.
Another option is the stove top one. Add the pasta and 2 tsps of olive oil to the pan, stir 2-4 minutes till heated .
Simple and very easy. My kids loved the microwave method most. Preparing their after school meals was fun for them to add sauce and veggies . It’s a quick fix.
The pasta’s texture is the perfect al dente. I was very worried about it being too soft but it wasn’t. Cold pasta salads would also be a terrific use for these pouches.
The pouch has 2 cups of pasta . My family eats more than the suggested 1 cup serving but with tons of veggies added I was able to feed them with 3 pouches ( 4 people).
The Ready Pasta is definitely convenient and I don’t think it tasted any differently from the traditional pastas. I wish I had tried these when we lost power during Hurricane Irma, but it is going to be added to our future survival boxes ( hopefully no storms anytime soon).
