A bagel would not solve misogyny and racism but god I would feel so much better if I had a bagel right now.

Breakfast Sauce, My Ass
The holidays are a special time for family, food and fun. But you have to get there first. On our way to Bristol, Tennessee we stopped for some much needed coffee. I decided on a whim to get a Bagel with Bacon, Egg and Cheese. I have a lot of their McMuffins when I travel because they are quick and easy.
Yes, I am from New York. Yes, I grew up in a time where there were bagel shops that sold real bagels. Yes, I know the difference between a bagel and the bread with a hole in it that is called a bagel by those that don’t know any better. Oasis bagel in Queens at one time was open 24/7 for 365 days a year.
Back on the highway after the pit stop, much to my chagrin there was a green gelatinous substance of unknown origin oozing from it when I unwrapped it. What? There was a Burger King one exit up. I got a Egg and Cheese Croisandwich and tossed the inedible mess in the trash where it belonged.
The next day, I was up early traveling again. I found myself at another McDonald’s. I decided to try again, requesting that the bagel have no mayo, mustard, ketchup or goo of any other kind. The young man taking the order responded “Sir, we don’t put that on our bagels”.
When the order confirmation screen came up it said, “No Breakfast Sauce”. BREAKFAST SAUCE?? BREAKFAST SAUCE??!! What in God’s name is BREAKFAST SAUCE? Who invented this stuff? What is in it? Why does have a sickly green color?
The most important question was, who thought it would be a good idea to put it on a piece of bread masquerading as a bagel? Is this a joke? What is this world coming to? Breakfast sauce, my ass!
