Sore, aching, and loving it!
Yesterday in stage combat we worked on rolls some more, this time adding obstacles to tumble over or objects to grab as we roll (ninja style). It was totally awesome, but today I'm really feeling it in my arms and chest. I really wish I'd had my camera to film us. I think I'll take it in for the next few classes.
I'm getting really excited about armed combat as well. We've been working on learning both sides of the fight we'll be testing with, which is difficult on my brain... lol, but it will be good to be capable of switching it up.
Funny related incident: Last night the Honors program paid for us to go see "In the Heights." At intermission a few of us were talking and reminiscing about our studies abroad. Debbie, whom I traveled with, and I started talking about when I had to rescue our third traveling buddy from an overzealous leather salesman in Florence. One of my classmates from unarmed stage combat said something like, "He probably didn't know you could fake fight him with a broadsword."
To which I blithely responded, "Well, I've been trained to kill so I wouldn't really need a sword anyway."
Debbie laughed ('cause she already knew, since I taught her and Carrie a few self-defense things while we were traveling), but the rest of the group looked hysterically uncomfortable. You must imagine, I was all dressed up and innocent looking. It was a funny moment.
Btw, what he said was a silly comment anyway because all the sword work we do in armed stage combat is real sword work just out of distance. But since he's only in unarmed, he wouldn't know.
