(1/2, character limit can piss off) But Oh lord yes! There were many moments that hit me. Some hilarious, some breathtaking/emotional. (Also read the 2 companion short stories, while most of World's Richest Duck was painful, those last 2 sentences were fucking glorious) but off the top of my head I'd have to say: Scrooge's awakening in the hospital, all the moments Fenton was oblivious to the sex metaphors; particularly from his mother [Continued in next ask]
the scene with Goldie (that's my 'Scrooge OTP', but that conversation), Protective M'ma Crackshell after Scrooge arrived to get the broken down Fenton (cause of 'that' kiss) out of his bed and back to work, Scrooge training Fenton to use a sword, that PAINFUL MOMENT at the top of the mountain with the lightning and Scrooge just in mourning, and finally the ending of KoD, the part in particular about it being equally returned was the most satisfying thing after all that!
Sorry for taking so long to respond to this. Things have been hectic around here and I have no sense of time right now.
That said, you totally touched on a ton of moments I loved too. @swampy-tiefling was the genius behind M’ma cracking all those sex jokes, and I love her for it. (Well I love her for many reasons, but her wonderful lewd sense of humor is one of them.)
Actually, another thing I really liked about us writing this series was the opportunity to flesh out characters. Like I used to really dislike Gandra and her characterization in the show. But after writing for her and being able to give her goals and motivation, I sympathized. That was one thing I always wanted though, I wanted the readers to not think her reasoning was cruel and unsound. She was not allowed to be villainized, since that was something that always bothered me about slash fiction where a canon couple gets split up for the sake of another ship. Sure, you feel terrible and sad that Fenton is heart broken... but you also want the best for her too.
I also really liked fleshing out M’ma. She has a great personality in the show, but I always thought it would be nice to know more about her. There is a narrative that developes where you find out about Fenton’s father having left Iva when Fenton was really young, and that’s where a lot of her attitude about things come from. If we ever get the chance to write it, there’s actually a story in the Real Value series where she and Scrooge goes on a road trip to find her husband, as a gift for Fenton, and it really makes all the pieces come together.
.... I am rambling, and not even about McCrack stuff specifically. Sorry sorry. It’s just... I’ve mentioned so many times that this series was something I had planned out for years. And the fact it actually got made, and that people like it brings so much joy to me.
