Day 3 BW Challenge: Took this photo in Kenya at Mbewau Academy in 2013. It was incredibly inspiring to watch the kids play soccer with so much passion and joy. Everyone I met was so welcoming and loving, seriously willing to give you the shirt off their back.
Imani Interns Summer 2013
Jambo friends, family and supporters hello from Kenya.
First off I want to thank each of you for taking an interest in Imani and Real for Christ Ministries, none of this would be possible without your loving support and hearts for ministry. Well to start, my name is Keith McGlothlin and I have been fortunate enough to be blessed with the opportunity to serve as an intern for Imani this summer. I work with video story telling and enjoy still photography, capturing moments and working with kids. Right now there is a team of twelve of us over here in Kenya working in schools and communities evangelizing spreading the good news of Jesus. We have had quite the experience working in the new school at Masai Corner that just opened in January this year, It was a blast working with the three and four year olds at the new school. Chris and Lisa Moore have an amazing vision for Masai corner. Right now there are just the two classes but the foundation for a three story school building has already been laid and now more fundraising is needed to finish the school. It has been incredible spending time with the kids and staff at Masai Corner and the surrounding areas. Everyone has been so welcoming as we hit the trails inviting us into their huts, feeding us mangos, chai tea whatever they are blessed to have. We talk to these folks about their lives and tell our stories of how God has worked in our lives. We have been blessed with the opportunity to pray with them and for them and their needs and concerns. The people we have met live very simply but the joy and happiness they bring everyday is enough to melt your heart.
So a little bit about the work that I will be doing as an intern while here in Kenya. As you know a group of twelve amazing individuals of all ages have spent the last 11 days serving in Kenya. My job is to document the work of the team and present it in a video project at the end for Imani. Were working on a couple other projects as well. I am working on a project with Bob Nichols aka Bobu specializes in getting water for local communities that don't have access to clean drinking water. He does this by drilling wells and he says it starts with the water. If their is good clean drinking water the lives of the community are drastically improved and this allows more time for education and for women to pursue other things beside walking many miles to get water necessary to cook, clean, drink and clean. While in Kenya I'll be putting together a video for the Women's program of Imani which was started by Jenny Jenkins. Her vision is to put these 16 women to work sewing different patterns for bags, clothes etc… as a means for them to feed their families and allow them an opportunity to learn a skill and learn english as well. I have been getting some really cool footage for these projects and look forward to seeing how the Lord uses them to promote these individual project as a way to spread the word about these programs as funding and publicity is needed to sustain these ministries. God bless each and everyone of you. Please share information about Imani and Real for Christ ministries. I look forward to producing these multimedia pieces for the glory of God that he may help these beautiful people of Kenya as they have many needs, the number one need being the hope of Jesus Christ our savior and it starts by opening the door through water, education and work opportunities. More posts to come living one day at a time the Kenya way polepole (slowly ). Please pray for our teams health and the work of our hands. God Bless each and everyone of you.
