Top U.S. general optimistic about outcome of battle against ISIS in Iraqi city of Tikrit
“No outcome is inevitable,” replied Army General Martin “Coach” Dempsey at last night’s press conference when asked about the United States’ chances in their upcoming meeting with ISIS, “but I think this one is ours for the taking. Away games are always tough, you know. But, when you’re in a tournament situation like this neither side is truly the home team.”
Despite a rocky regular season, most pundits still expect the U.S. to make a good showing at this year’s tournament, with a quarter final spot anticipated and a final four appearance not out the question.
“My guys are ready,” continued Dempsey. “This is what we’ve been building toward all year.”
“Drills. Scrimmage. Video.” That’s how number 16, Private Burk, small forward utility player for the U.S., described the squad’s training sessions. “Coach has a vision for this team and we’re all just to fulfill that vision.”
The winner of this match-up earns a spot in the round of 32.
“If we focus on possession and are able to execute the fundamentals I think we have a real shot of walking away with a victory,” Dempsey concluded.
